Big win for Cardiff against Forest today 2-1!! Thats Forest hopes dented a bit...

Cardiff getting Hugill is huge.....

Forest were rubbish, media darlings but a very average squad, decent manager though, Boro have the same problem

good manager, squad full of average players.

Rothwells gone let's move on.

Who's coming in .

Any rumours floating around .

Thinking we need 4 in minimum

At best it will be someone on loan. No significant signings tomorrow is my forecast. We just aren't at the races

We are supposed to forget about Armstrong and the massive fee we received for him. Gone. Forgotten.

Anyone explain to me how we are going to be paying these experienced quality players to replace Rothwell when the reason Rothwell is leaving is that we can't or won't pay him more?

People keep saying the Armstrong money went toward Ffp it isn't their fault you don't accept this.

Agreed though surely we should have some money now to get some in.

Rothwell should have been kept and if he wasn't giving 100% made to train with on his own.

Daftest thing ever selling to a direct rival even if the decision had been made to cash in then  tell Joe it's a team abroad or premier League.

Depressing stuff when we are sat 2nd in the league

I'd pay £5m for him but would FFP not get in the way of that?

I still think we'll end up getting Giles and a loanee midfielder. I can't see Rovers pulling a massive signing out of the bag.

Stupid though because with the right players they could smash the rest of the season. Our defence is solid, we need someone to bang in more goals from midfield and Swifts passing is second to none.

Imagine Giles, Swift and a forward coming in. We'd smash it.

Did we not get 15 mil for AA this summer?  How can we not afford 5 and think of the wages off the books from last year. Surely we can spend 1.7 above what we sold JR for

Had no idea we were guaranteed promotion with Rothwell in the side. Do you think someone should tell TM?

We're not. Hence if you bother to read my post properly I said "If the wheels fall off" I.e. If selling Rothwell and attempting to replace him elsewhere turns out to have a clearly detrimental effect.

I didn't mean if we play really well until the end of the season and miss out on goal difference etc.

I just hope we actually do good business tomorrow and actually spend some money.

Thoughts on Rothwell: I absolutely despise him. Understand him wanting to leave and better his finances but pushing for a move to Bournemouth? What a dick move that is. Zero respect from me.

Anyways. Hope Mowbray does the business he was already going to do - Striker (abroad? Any names?), CM and this wing back from Wolves. On top of that we need a replacement (or 2) for Rothwell.  I hope we don’t do what we usually do but can’t help feeling pessimistic about tomorrow.

'Going towards FFP' doesn't make the money disappear. It doesn't just vanish into a hole somewhere. Presumably when people say it has gone towards FFP what they mean is that we are using that cash to run the club for a while avoiding the need for the owners to do it.

therefore the money will still be there - perhaps in instalments or drips coming into the accounts - but we know it is coming and can use it for accounting for FFP on the income/expenditure sheet.

But the money is there - it is real - and could be used towards new signings now if we really wanted given the position we find ourselves in.

His contract is up in June, fans are saying it'll be a £2m fee. So far neither Leeds, Brentford or Newcastle have made a move.

It would be some show of intent if we were to go in for him but he'll have his sights on Premier league with his next move

I’d guess we won’t pay a 27 year old on his last major contract what he’s worth. Rather spend it on a 24 year old that could be sold for value

Top player but Reading will never sell their best player when they are in a relegation battle. They'd probably be asking £5m.

Bit like we would not sell one of our better players when we are in a premier league push and certainley not to a rival.... oh wait!!!

And could get it with us in 5 months.

I think he is a cracking player but he has been performing at a high level in this league for quite a while and no premier league club has taken him in that time.

His wages will rule us out though anyway

Ok maybe - so how does that explain Nyambe, Lenihan, Travis and Kaminski who are all going the same way?

Blimey, Danny Drinkwater at Reading on £6m+ a year and they are 4th from bottom.

He's on loan, so don't imagine they are fielding that bill. They got deducted 6 points for failing FFP and have restricted transfers to avoid another 6 points deduction.
