NFT's/Cryptocurrency in Football

I've seen that both QPR and Crystal Palace have now partnered with a Cryptocurrency business and are now selling these digital tokens to fans in exchange for a "licenced digital image"

Crystal palace seem to be offering even less just giving fans votes in a poll or to play games against other fans, seems a bit weird.

I follow a bit of digital art and I've come across NFT'S before. I've never been able to wrap my head around how people part with so much money to "own" a digital image I can just right click and save as 🤷‍♂️

Needless to say, the QPR and Palace announcements have gone down like a lead balloon on Twitter and it all seems very dodgey.

There is also a bloke popping up on various clubs Twitter accounts promoting this Cryptocurrencies, acting like he's a lifelong fan of each, saying how great these partnerships are.

Anyone else come across these before and have more knowledge than I have?

Feels like the sort of shady, pyramid scheme Waggott would be all over!

Yeah I really can't understand this whole thing. 

However we do live in a world where you can order extrajudicial executions of hundreds of people and also be the holder of the nobel peace prize.
