Songman Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Absolutely no question - Rovers to get promoted. 3 Quote
matt83 Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Due to the perilous financial situation of rovers resulting in question marks over whether even exist as a football club down the track for me it has to be rovers. Only due to the prem money and the chance for the Venkys to sell up. But I’d get more joy watching England win the World Cup. 2 Quote
Mattyblue Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 How did I know who this thread starter would be?! England? I get someone like the original poster, he’s long stopped being particularly interested in Rovers. I get those that would say ‘Rovers’ if you pushed them to say who they support, but generally only watch football every couple of years for international tournaments. But for those that have stuck by it over this horrendous decade, get to Ewood etc, I just couldn’t fathom choosing an England team full of players you’ve no particular connection to, that hardly anybody bats an eyelid at outside said tournament, to the club you pour your heart and soul into week after week, year after year, who you often have family and local ties with going back generations etc etc … but each to their own. 5 Quote
gumboots Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 I dont even go to Ewood but I'd take Rovers over England every day. Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Rovers every time for me. There are England games on TV that I don’t even bother watching. 2 Quote
DaveyB Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Like others have said, it’s not even close. Rovers every time. Tbh, I’d even put a dingle relegation above an England WC win in terms of enjoyment - but maybe that’s just me 🤔 1 Quote
Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted December 19, 2021 Moderation Lead Posted December 19, 2021 After everything the last ten years, it would be Rovers without question. If we were an established PL team again, then I’d take an England WC win as I’ve already seen us win the league. But, typically, I’m Rovers>England. Quote
lraC Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 It’s hard to believe this is even debatable. Even when we had players in the England side, I never got anywhere near the feeling I get when Rovers, win or are doing well. 4 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 I’ve seen us win the World Cup. It was no big deal at the time. I was more upset with Rovers getting relegated earlier that year. Quote

I will go with England myself Before venkys destroyed us, under real footballing people, I had every confidence that winning cups and pots was always just around the corner domestically, so England winning the world cup was always the holly grail and I'd have agreed with you roverandout. Having followed the national side for many years, home and away, the country deserves a world cup, the fans deserve a world cup and I hope to see one won before I pop my clogs. But now, under this lot, I'm hoping promotion will see back of them, so its promotion for me. 1 Quote

I still have an interest in Rovers but venkys have destroyed most of my love for Rovers. I'm happy they're doing well. But it's always been England first for me Quote
Waggy76 Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Rovers always been number one for me ... Been going on Ewood since 1969 , never been to any international match and never will... Quote
Backroom DE. Posted December 19, 2021 Backroom Posted December 19, 2021 (edited) Rovers without a doubt. The 2022 WC is massively tainted for obvious reasons. Edited December 19, 2021 by DE. Quote
Officer Barbrady Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 (edited) In my case, it would be either Rovers or the US National Team. I would choose Rovers as well. International play only happens every so often, whereas club football is something that is in your blood your whole life. Edited December 19, 2021 by Officer Barbrady 1 Quote
Cherry Blue Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Re-emergence of Rovers as a premiership club in 2022 is a no brainer. Quote
Displaced Rover Posted December 19, 2021 Posted December 19, 2021 Rovers by a country mile. I like watching England and seeing us do well of course. It’s just not in the same sphere as watching the Rovers. 1 Quote
