Darrenbot Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 I'm more confident of victory here than any game for a while,i think we'll blow them off the park 6-0 3 Quote

only2garners Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 There’s a long press release on Barnsley’s website about the game but no mention of the Covid situation at all. Quote
MarkBRFC Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Which means they will call it off at about 6pm tomorrow? 2 Quote
tomphil Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 It should be quite simple and straightforwards, being an evening game have a cut off point of 12.30. Home team should be informed by then and if it gets pulled later they should be compensated. Hit people in the pocket and they'll pull their fingers out. Quote
arbitro Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Barnsley are one of the three teams we haven't scored against this season so I'm expecting a tough, uncompromising side here who will probably come to kill the game at every opportunity. We should have enough to beat them though with the same team and formation which has served us so well over recent games. 2 Quote

If this form is going to be maintained we need to accept that we will lose and draw games, we need to recover quickly. 1 Quote

Yes we will lose and draw games in the future but if we have any hope of promotion tomorrow’s game shouldn’t be one of them. 5 Quote

BigBar Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 We can't afford to get carried away. I expect a tight game, could be scoreless at the break and maybe a 1-0 or 2-0 would be a very good night imo 2 Quote
Ossydave Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Could do with an early goal tbh much like the Birmingham game, because it'll end up a frustrating park the bus job if not. No reason it can't end up a similar score to the Birmingham game if we do get an early one, a narrow 1-0 win if not... Quote
JHRover Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Anything but a win would be a let down and that applies whether we were chasing promotion or fighting relegation - Barnsley have the lowest points haul in the league for good reason - they have been the worst side so far and anyone at home should be disappointed with anything less than a win. Of course it isn't so simple and sides will come to Ewood to try and stop our forward players and grind out results and the best sides will drop points against the weaker ones. The key of course is not to panic. Nothing will be lost if points are dropped but then there needs to be a response. Our biggest problem under Mowbray has been that he is a streaky manager - when things are going well the football can be good, goals flow and we look like a team going places but then when we have a setback that usually ushers in 6-7 game barren spells where we slide down the table. Setbacks OK if it is a setback and not a month long horror run. Having said all that I and many others will have looked at this tranche of Hull, Barnsley and Huddersfield as a great opportunity to put a serious gap to the teams behind us. After the Hull debacle we really need a win to keep things going. 3 Quote
Sparks Rover Posted December 28, 2021 Posted December 28, 2021 Should be a decent gate at that price, cue the Rovers....🤔 Quote

The problem then is it may appear that 20 quid tickets doesn't look like its worth bothering with to swag....hope I'm totally wrong though and the lads get the decent crowd they deserve.... 1 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 (edited) I can see that Hull farce being a real momentum buster. That, along with all the freak results you tend to get at this time of the year makes me think we'll crash back down to earth tonight. Rovers 0 Barnsley 1 Edited December 29, 2021 by MarkBRFC Quote
Mattyblue Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 If this game had been yesterday I’d have imagined a big crowd, you can see that across the pyramid when non league clubs were recording double/treble their standard gates. However, our game is at night, they will bring very few and it isn’t a bank holiday (though obviously plenty of folk take this whole week off, kids aren’t in school etc). So we’ll see. Another highly annoying thing from a Rovers perspective about this Covid scare is that it could well have put the breaks on half ST sales, just as momentum was building, as quite understandably, a couple of weeks ago would many have wanted to commit when it seemed that BCD was incoming? 2 Quote
G Somerset Rover Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 Need to remain positive and there’s no reason why we shouldn’t be going into tonight. They’re a very poor side and we’ve got real momentum behind us despite the Hull postponement. I think we’ll still win this one quite comfortably: Rovers 3 Barnsley 1 COYB 1 Quote
neophox Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 We should destroy them. Thats building confidence. Ayala, Dolan, Johnson and Gallagher cant get in to the starting eleven. Barnsley would love to have them starting. 1 Quote
Ricky Posted December 29, 2021 Posted December 29, 2021 This is definitely the type of game we’d lose in the past. 7 Quote
