There was a time when I watched live football 5 nights a week, no sky then.

I've a decent collection of programmes from all local clubs and it's good to talk.

I could go to two or three games a week with my paper round money back then. I’d be going past my local coach office on my way home from school and I’d see Bolton v Spurs or City v Wolves etc advertised and I’d be in and book. Dash home for some tea and back out to the game.

Obviously it was all pay on the gate back then. You could just walk up.

Then I started playing seriously myself so Saturday games were out.

Thinking about how easy it was back then to go to matches brought back a memory of 3 games in a day with my dad on a Good Friday back in the late 70's / early 80's. Wigan Vs Bury 11am at Springfield Park, Rovers Vs somebody maybe Derby, Sunderland?) at 3pm. Back home for tea and then up to Dark Lane to watch Rossy Utd in a local derby at 7.30. My mum must have been very understanding...or had just given up by then!

Was later than I thought - 1987. Wigan beat Bury 1-0, Rovers beat Derby 3-1

On one of the Easter days we'd catch 3 games in London.

We started collecting a program from each of the 92 then watching each play then visiting every ground. By that stage I'd discovered girls so didn't visit them all. Mates went on to visit all grounds in Scotland too.

The mates who went on to do all the Scottish grounds - I take it they hadn't discovered girls at that point! Did they ever? 😉

For all we know, they may have " discovered " each other ! I've heard they're now sharing a small cottage just outside Invermoriston, where they spend their days cataloguing their extensive Programme collection, drinking White Zinfandel and walking their two Cockapoos, Elton & David !! Good for them .... 😉

Breaking news .... Blackburn magistrates and Club Officials will have a new sanction available to them from early September for any home supporters misbehaving at Ewood Park . Rather than issuing a Stadium ban or Community Service, offenders will be forced to watch all four episodes of the below on repeat for 48 hours ...

What a load of overhyped bollox:

Pace commented: “It’s been a truly unforgettable year, full of stratospheric highs, some daunting lows and everything in between. I’m delighted Ad Hoc and Sky have been there to capture this incredible journey, in all its emotion, depth and passion. At its heart it’s a story of family, faith, friendship, and of course football, set during an amazing time, in a great town, and of course led by a very special manager in Vincent Kompany.”

Zai Bennett Managing Director of Content, Sky UK, added: “Burnley FC’s story over the last 12 months has been incredible. From one the biggest lows in club football, to one of the greatest highs, we’ve been privileged to follow the club throughout. With lead characters Alan Pace and Vincent Kompany, we can’t wait to bring our audiences this remarkable story from the inside.”

I don't think SKY are expecting a massive " audience share " in the BB1,BB2 postcode areas, to be fair !

Ha! I don’t imagine they’re expecting much outside of Burnley itself.

Even you must cringe at Kompany being described as a ‘lead character’

Not particularly my bag, I quite agree ...

However, it appears that the Social Media stuff, and the recent investment from JJ Hall, the recently retired NFL " legend " is the new way forward. BFC has 777k followers on Twitter, JJ Hall has 5.6m .... his task is apparently to make the plucky under-dog heroes from England's " Rust-Belt " forgotten Town the team to follow in the States ...

We shall see ...

We can all guess where your pre-season tour is going to be…

Oh and it’s JJ Watt - call yourself a fan 😁

It is more a case of, are the tickets value for money, rather than what the actual pice is or was.

My post was related to stories of people seeing several matches in one day. Financially you could do it then. Football was the people's game and crowds were massive even though the stadiums were primitive compared to today.

Quite common in the early sixties for residents of east Lancashire to watch Rovers at home one Saturday and Burnley the next.

People even had season tickets for both. People are priced out now is my point.
