Our History and Tradition will always make them Green with Envy, whatever Division we may be in our Shadow looms large over them More Brains in a Meat Pie 🤣... https://uptheclarets.com/messageboard/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70697 We've scarred them and the Preston fans for life. They will never forget the pain we have caused them, no matter what their clubs go on to do (which isn't likely to be much). I love it. What I find laughable is, the dingle mugs in that thread claiming their "great fans" and "passion" would have seen them win double the amount of trophies had they have been backed by a benefactor 😂. There's another one stating "we are a league above them and have double the fans they have". Yeah, and? Newcastle have had 52,000 fans in their stadium for years on end, but have not outdone the famous Blackburn Rovers. I can point to tens more of such clubs. That's despite us being a mess for 12 years. They use our history to have a go at us, but fail to spot an ominous (for them) sign: It's a part of our Club's DNA. Lawrence Cotton, Uncle Jack...and when Venky's piss off...just wait and see. I suspect there won't be much laughter over that end when that day comes, and they are begging for Venky's to come back. 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 (edited) They have 18,500 home fans in their hovel most weeks, so 👏 all round for such tremendous figures at a club that’s spent years in the PL with an odd season winning the division below. We have about 12/13,000 after a terrible decade. Maths also not a strong point over there. Edited July 23, 2023 by Mattyblue 2 Quote
Upside Down Posted July 23, 2023 Posted July 23, 2023 It's funny how they like to attribute all of our success to Jack Walker but fail to see that the only reason they are above us is because of venkys. Shouldn't be surprised really, Burnley has never been known as a hub of intellectualism. 3 Quote

You believe we'd be in the Premier League without the Venkys? That's some leap of faith! Quote

redroser Posted July 24, 2023 Posted July 24, 2023 We have no divine right to be in the Premier League you realise? If not the Venkys, we'd certainly require some benevolent benefactor with more more money than sense to fund the project. Quote

Of course we have no divine right to be in the PL- but as fans, we deserve better than what our owners are offering. 8 Quote

Why not Blackpool, Bolton, Knobbers, or any other team you care to name. What makes us do special? Quote

What makes us so special is a number of things. Our lopsided stadium, being the most successful town team in the country, our colours and numerous other things. 4 Quote

Popular Post J*B Posted July 24, 2023 Popular Post Posted July 24, 2023 Let's stop talking about 'deserve' and instead talk about 'standards'. Pre-Jack we where in many ways, similar to Blackpool, Bolton, PNE, Burnley. A Northern Town football club. There's varying levels of history/success, but in principle we represented fans with in the most part the same attitudes and beliefs. Then Jack bought the club and as a successful but importantly - local - man, raised the standards whilst retaining the same attitudes and beliefs. He spoke about "Think Big" - thats very clever wording, it means retain everything that you know and believe but increase the standards. He didn't talk about a new culture or identity because as local man, despite being a multi-millionaire he was 'one of us'. This set a new benchmark for what Blackburn Rovers is and should be. When Jack passed, the values, ethics, beliefs didn't change. We where still a family club, that still developed local talent, that still created local infrastructure and still employed local people. During Venkys ownership, its the standards that have dropped. The things that Rovers fans have become accustomed to, had expected, the "Think Big" mindset was removed. Examples being... The training ground needed significant investment as it was due to lose the A-class rating. The ground is deteriorating. The pitch hasn't been replaced. The UK first club radio station has been closed. The RoversTV offering has dropped. The programme has been stopped. etc etc. What do Rovers deserve? Well, we don't necessarily 'deserve' anything. There's no god given right. But the standards have significantly dropped and thats where the confusion starts, because the club that Venkys, Pasha and Waggott are running doesn't accurately reflect standards that fans that remember Jack Walker have become accustomed to as the 'minimum' standard. 17 Quote

This is why typically your aged 40 year old fan goes bonkers and says things like “this isn’t good enough, it’s a disgrace, Waggott Out!” and your average 20 year old fan says things like “we don’t have money, what where you expecting, 9,000 STs is good!” 3 Quote

Absolutely. It's about standards and ours are pretty much on the floor right now because of these owners. This is what Uncle Jack thought about Rovers: 1 Quote

Most Rovers fans just want a well ran competitive club, not the basket case the owners have created. As J*B said it's about standards not being special. As for "what makes us do special?" 3 Quote
