The Dingles

Just seen that Burnley, mission to something or other , the documentary is in sky now, season two. Obviously swerved the first one after what they did in their championship season but this could be quite enjoyable viewing as they tank out the league. Just thought I’d throw it out there for anyone interested.

Hate to say it but they looked good that first half and there bench would all start for us.

You'd expect them to have a good squad when they've spent over £140m on players in the last two seasons.

Of course that didn't help them embarrassing themselves last season, but with competent management they'll have too much for most teams this season.

TBF a decent manager can only stem the embarrassment on the pitch. He can't control the neanderthal fans or the tin shack falling apart.

Like it or not but Burnley different class.

Parker has added an aggression and sharpness and a mix to their game.

Posted a few weeks ago thought they would stroll the Championship - tonight's outstanding performance just confirms it.

Burnley with a very dominant and ruthless performance. They will be right up there again.

Luton on the other hand have looked dreadful. Derby would’ve beaten them tonight.

Kaminski is most welcome to jump ship back to Ewood!

Sad times that The Dingles look good. Probably be right in their groove when they play us 😟

They should walk this league at a canter. Two of their top earners will be on more than our starting 11 put together, from the other night.

Luton were dire.

Think it's true to say Burnley made them look dire.  It was an outstanding performance and there will be many, many teams who are made to look dire.

Hard to swallow but credit where credit is due.

Burnley were excellent, Luton were dire too. Luton have a very strange desire to lump balls into the box, just a numbers game. They did it often in the Premier League, it just seems quite a numb tactic that doesn't seem to pay off very often.

If the dingles don't absolutely piss the league then there's something wrong.

Shows how poor the game has gotten now. Completely embarrassingly shit last season but will win the league this year without breaking a sweat.

The current league system makes competition very difficult and those teams that do go up suddenly have resources more than every team in the Championship combined. The fact that the powers of be don't see this as an issue is bewildering.

Burnley, whilst amongst the favourites to be up there will have some bumps along the way I'm sure.

I just hope those bumps are against the Rovers.

One game into the season and some of our supporters are shitting themselves. Let's see what happens.

Erm yeah but Luton should be in the same boat should they not?

They were dogshit and will miss Barkley you feel, although they did have a fair few injuries as well. They looked like a team who'd barely had a pre season, although I'm sure Edwards said pre match they'd been good pre season.

They'll undoubtedly be up there as they should be, but in a derby game if your players are up for it anything can happen. Sadly last time round at the turf they absolutely were not up for it, coupled with the totally wrong team selection. At Ewood, partly because he played Adam, we made more of a game of it.

One of Luton's greatest strengths last time the were in the Championship was having some big bruising centre backs with know how.  Last night they had two teenage kids in their back 3 with less than 10 senior appearances between them, and Mengi who is only 22 marshalling them.  I gather that they had injury issues in defence, but they did have some slightly older and wiser heads available that would have surely been able to help their younger players.  To top it all off, they had another 19 year old making his first senior appearance alongside an injury prone journeyman in central midfield.

Given that Luton have Championship knowhow in their squad and on their bench, these were all strange decisions in key positions

We were the only club to beat a newly promoted club across the EFL. We did well, particularly given that we'd only won one of our last nine Friday night matches.

It's early days but my nerves are somewhat alleviated.

They didn't pump as much money into their squad though as they used much of it to upgrade their pig sty ground.

I'd expect them to do reasonably well but they got promoted by being really solid and scoring goals when required rather than just blowing the league away with a massive budget.

Their season in the Premier League was absolutely nowhere near as embarrassing as the dingles either. They didn't spend a huge amount on players and went down fighting.  The exact opposite of the six fingerd ones.

Luton badly hit by injuries plus missed the guile and knowhow of Ross Barcley or however he spells his name. Put a player like that in their midfield and the dingles would still have won but Trafford would have been far more exposed.

They literally got promoted playing the same way (and troubled a lot of PL teams last season with the same style).

I stand corrected - it's £180m now over three seasons that they've spent (another £40m so far this summer).

Absolutely bonkers when the rest of the Championship doesn't have a pot to piss in.

Out of interest why should we piss the league rather than Sheff Utd, Luton, Norwich who’ve alll got parachute payments or indeed Leeds who seem to have endless supplies of cash? Sheff Utd doing lots of business at the moment with some signings who look very good.
