Dear oh dear, some wild overreactions on here.

Actually think it’s a positive, focus on the league. It’s not our strongest XI and was probably the worst possible draw. We know Wigan don’t play football.

Moving on!

And Wigan's fans can eat dick pies too.

'Premier League, you're having a laugh' what, because our sub goalie is shite?

Tbf we have been poor today. Haven't turned up at all. Hope this isn't the sign of our momentum coming to a screeching halt and the beginning of a Mowbray death spiral.

Davenport must be watching Pears thinking, what does it take to get in the side?

In goal? To be fair I'd prefer him.

Focus on the league....someone had to say it

No, because a good cup run is just as important to morale as the league

Pears has been outstandingly bad, but some of the players have to take a look at themselves. They thought they'd won before a ball was kicked. They can't even string a pass together.

To be fair to Pears he was awful last season, but played well this season and seemed reasonable to give him a spin in this game.

But while you can just about get over one clanger in a game but two is unacceptable.

Strongly disagree.

Needed a confidence building win to maintain the momentum and move on.

I first made the comment about Johnson’s giving the ball away, now think he’d be better in goals than what we’ve got.

We've been poor and Wigan still haven't had a sniff.

C'mon, You expect certain standards from a professional footballer.

Oh no I was serious. Unacceptable.  That period was just horrendous.

What did Pears do?

You cannot, absolutely cannot be a confidence player if you're a keeper. There is no hiding from mistakes.

Came to catch a cross and basically carried it straight into his net. I'm struggling to remember when I was last this angry with a goalkeeper, and I'm not even too invested in the FA cup this year.

It's the manner of the capitulation. We've been so poor, including the first teamers.

It's easy to worry about a death spiral when you see something like this.

Wigan should be 3-1 up.

Hard to recover from that for a keeper.

A new reserve keeper just became a necessary January signing.

If anything, this game is showing that we have a serious lack of depth in the squad.

Dolan can't play RB, Johnson and Van Hecke can't play the ball-playing defender role, Pears can't keep.
