Pilky is a Darwen lad thank you very much! 😘, as is Brian Douglas, Ron and Ken Clayton were both born in Preston but were always Blackburnians from a young age. , Mark Patterson is another 'Darrener'.

Duggie never lived in Darwen though? Was he born at Bull Hill?

Barry Ratcliffe of the Youth Cup winning team. That was in the era of Rovers having Douglas, Pickering, Byrom and Ratcliffe in the forward line.

and Alan Bradshaw who also scored in the Youth Cup Final.

Barry Ratcliffe also had a great butcher's stall on Blackburn Market - Barry was a great lad.

Err, sorry 47er, Duggie did and still does!

I'd no idea where he lives now but he lived within a stone's throw of Ewood as a child and went go the locally, now demolished Primary school.

That's where he grew up so that makes him a Blackburner for me!

We're 'messing' with one another 47er, as you know full well. Wherever Duggie was born, Blackburn or Darwen, I dunno....but he was always a 'darrener', his lads are darreners, he's always lived in Darwen and his latest girlfriend is also a darrener!

Irrespective, Brian is an absolute local legend and to be cherished in every respect.

Well I'm not messing with anyone! Couldn't agree more on your last sentence. I've always said he was the best player I ever saw and that includes Best, Law, Matthews (though late in his career), Finney(ditto) and anyone else but, factually, he did live in and went to school in the Ewood area as a child.

He never went to school or lived in Darwen till adulthood--i've no idea when he first lived there. So that makes him a Blackburner for me.

Doesn't really matter does it? He was and is a Rover and arguably the greatest Rover of them all. Have to pass on Bob Crompton's claim to that description but clearly he has one. But no statue!

"His latest girlfriend"!! Bloody hell, he's in his eighties! Enjoy it while you can Dug!

I think Leighton Clarkson and Scott Wharton were born in Blackburn and they might well be blues, but they didn’t grow up there. Scott Wharton was Salesbury and Leighton Clarkson Clitheroe if I’m not mistaken!

Alex Binnie? His official name is John Binnie and he was on Rovers books. Not sure if he made the first team, but played at Stanley for a while.

Nice lad too and married snooker player, Jim Meadowcrofts daughter.

Rossendale lad and played for Rossendale United after being released by Rovers If I remember.

In my early years I met both Jan and Andrea Meadowcroft.... Both nice girls so Alex did OK there.

Alan Bradshaw kept his amateur status. He played for Rovers in the mid-60’s. He taught at Shadsworth and coached their football teams. He was a popular coach of the very successful Town Team that won the Lancashire championship in 1967.

Don't think Alan got much use out of it 🙂

Alan Bradshaw was a really good schools coach. My brother played many games for his town and county teams. Him and another teacher (Briggs?) were like Cloughie and Taylor.
