Gav Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 (edited) Fulham are the best side in the division, we have the most injuries in the division. Battled well 2nd half but this threadbare squad is coming home to roost as many of us predicted before Christmas. The owners had an opportunity to push the club forward, they failed to do that, no ambition and we are where we are. Edited March 5, 2022 by Gav 5 Quote
superniko Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 We have the best run in out of all 24 teams in the league, let alone our rivals. 11 games and only 2 top 10 teams (one of which are 10th) 10 of 11 games against teams placed 10th or worse in the league. It’s ours to throw away now. I’ll start screaming and sweating when we throw away our matches against Reading, Bristol City etc. For perspective, we play 46 games in a season and that is our toughest match (on paper). 2nd half we were decent, a Kaminski shocker (again) cost us, although this time we’d have lost anyway. I’m still fuming about the Sheff Utd match!! 2 Quote

Need to get away from that mindset, 2nd place is miles gone, Bournemouth have 5 games in hand! They only need win a couple of them and they are gone (at least out of rovers reach anyway). 2 Quote

Yes, but a Luton win dents Middlesbro's push. There are enough negatives without us going looking for more. We will be in the top six tonight. Sorry if that disappoints... 2 Quote

simongarnerisgod Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 come on north end, kick the **** out of bournemouth and their overrated **** of a manager Quote
Miller11 Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 Didn’t expect anything here, but we were the architects of our own downfall today. Two really poor goals to gift them. They are a horrible side. When players dive that much I just wish one of our players would send one of them off on a stretcher. Ref was at best unforgivably inconsistent and weak. Pickering was awful, particularly in the first half. Nobody really covered themselves in glory. Dolan tried, Gallagher looked decent until it came to actually doing the job of a centre forward… he was unlucky with the chalked off goal though. Johnson and JRC really sloppy to give away such a cheap offside. Our January business looks more horrific by the week. Unless we get some/all of Nyambe, Brereton and Dack back soon, our season will peter out into nothingness very quickly. 4 Quote

We couldn’t afford our long term target Maja, we couldn’t afford the lad that went to Swansea either, Dembele went to Bournemouth. The manager was priced out of those deals Booth, the owners could have made those deals happen in my opinion, Jack wouldn’t have missed out. Quote

The owners spent 16m quid, the absolute maximum they could get away with, to buy the training ground they already owned off the football club so that we didn’t fail FFP dramatically due to huge overspends by the current senior managements and the impact of COVID. They can’t spend money that they’re not allowed to spend. 1 Quote
1864roverite Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 I just don’t see any further progression for this season and I don’t believe that we are capable of sustaining a play off spot challenge. Injuries and mistakes are killing the season 1 Quote

That’s six teams, for anyone that hasn’t counted. We have played all those teams twice with the exception of Bournemouth those teams still have to play against eachother they can't all win them all. Sheff United and QPR still have to play eachother twice. Our record against bottom half teams this season is as good as anyone's. Today was poor and the last month has been but a generous Run of fixtures to come 2 Quote
Dolly blue Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 Kaminski..started the rot…terrible error at this level Zeefuik…is he another injury every game lad Rankin Costello….VERY limited , can’t believe he gets a squad shirt .. he’s physically weak Lenihan….decent, stupid yellow Van Hecke …hammered by the bully Mitrovic ..shouldn’t have tried to go toe to toe….bad decision led to first goal Wharton ….steady ..a couple errors could have been more costly Pickering..😳…very slow, poor reading of game …was embarrassed by Wilson Travis …slow thinking , slow moving …terrible form at the moment Johnson….should NOT be playing at this level ….unfit Giles….grew into game ( some felt he should have crossed when choosing to shoot late on )…..but he is SOOOOO left footed he hadn’t a chance Khedra… did little or nothing before “ injury “ Dolan….did what he does …he ran…but no end product Gallagher ….a very limited player …but, in his defence, he did show some intent Rothwell…..too little too late Mowbray….suffering as he has been found out….back to players out of position, no plan B ( what is his plan A? ) realising ..it’s all gone tits up It’s hurt to type the truth …but we are such a limited club….Forest, Shef Utd, Huddersfield, QPR , Middlesbrough….even Luton on the rise ….as we wonder where our next goal is coming from…. 2 Quote

Riverside under the drip Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 Dolan my MOTM. Willing to be fair and admit that having Gallagher on for Khadra did somehow work well. He still looked pretty talentless but somehow the ball bounced in the right direction from our point of view. Not his fault his goal got chalked off. A decent outing. Not too angry about losing as Fulham were excellent value but what grates is the idea that we can't be expected to compete with a promotion-chasing side even though we're chasing promotion as well. Other sides have done it. We beat Bournemouth. Why not? If only we had a real striker to head in Giles' crosses. Ho hum on we go... Quote

Clue - massive parachute payments, significantly higher match day revenue, a much more successful corporate operation. Quote

G Somerset Rover Posted March 5, 2022 Posted March 5, 2022 The pressure on Tuesday night is going to be huge come 5pm today. We simply have to win. Quote
Popular Post martonrover Posted March 5, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 5, 2022 Our January business was poor, and I blame that on Mowbray, not the owners. He signed players we didn’t really need, (eg Hedges), and failed to address the most obvious, pressing need, namely a centre forward. Mowbray is quoted as saying that we had the opportunities to bring in a forward, but chose not to. Three goals in eleven league games. Predictably pathetic. 10 Quote

FFP is almost designed to stop clubs like ours being successful. Until the management team - not the ownership - can work out how to generate significantly more money then we will never be able to financially compete whether we have Venkys, an American billionaire, a Middle Eastern investment group or are fan owned. 2 Quote
