Those squad places in 4th, 5th choice are exactly where the younger lads like Carter and Phillips should be and getting loans in to stunt their development is something we need to stop doing. Ayala, Hyam, Wharton, Carter and Phillips should be fine for CB. Let's get some creativity or finishing with that loan instead. 13 minutes ago, Tugayisgod said: Nixon now saying Schalke made late move for van den berg! Liverpool to decide where he goes. Would like him but think 5 cbs would be enough even if playing 3 at the back. Just means nobody leaves on loan . Would also free up money for another position Going to be a busy few days Agree with both and why I asked how many loans we are allowed. I don't want us using energy, personell and resources to develop one of Liverpools youngsters when we can focus on our own. After seeing Bournemouth getting beat 9-0 I don't know if I want us to get promoted 😉 Quote

I think a combination of Mowbray and injuries have set him back years. Personally I think JRC isn't a bad footballer. But he's not an athlete and has been asked to play in one of the most athletic positions on the pitch. Injuries have taken their toll but he never has been and never will be a RB or RWB. As a result he's now a few years older and neither he nor coaching staff have any idea what his position is so when he is fit he's no direction on what aspects of his game to improve. 3 Quote

Yeah he's also atrocious in the air, and you are onto a hiding at full back if you can't head. Also why I think Eduns never going to make a full back. Rather have someone like Carter playing there and being solid in the air than a JRC or Edun who can be easily targeted. Edit - scratch that, for some reason I thought Carter is left footed. He's right footed.. wrong footed full backs always a bad idea! Edited August 29, 2022 by joey_big_nose Quote

He needs a loan to a club where he’s going to play somewhere further up the pitch. I’d go as far as saying it’s essential to save his career. If he remains a fullback he’ll go the way of Adam Henley. 2 Quote

Similarly keeping Carter makes sense as he can cover LB. IF Carter can cover LB he can definitely cover RB. I would like to keep Carter. Give us a defense of: Brittain, Carter, Philips, Ayala, Wharton, Pickering, Edun and now Hyam. We really don't ned SVDB. Quote
Kcaj93 Posted August 29, 2022 Posted August 29, 2022 Mystical nixon now reporting German clubs are after van den berg. If true had a feeling this would happen late on. I do think we should bin this off now and focus on other areas to strengthen. Then possibly a last minute deal for van hecke. 1 Quote

I've never a player look so disinterested and unwilling to put in a shift that him. Butterworth needs to work on a factory production line for a while to show him what hard work is like - then he might realise how lucky he is. Vale needs to play in League 2 for a while to toughen him up Thing is, you'd have thought the loan to Fleetwood would've woken him up yet he was absolutely atrocious when he did play. 1 Quote
