The rumour that we were serious about Davies is encouraging as it shows we are after a decent centre half. Not keen on pouring that much money away just on a loan though so they should get their act together and pay good money for JPvH.

That's proper investment that will produce a return and get some good years out of the player as well. They should look at it as a Brereton style move just in a different position. Push the fecking boat out and stop messing about, lets hope it doesn't take this regime several seasons to get players in this position.

I wish I could share the optimism but I really can't.

I don't think anyone can seriously put a case forward that we are anything but weaker than we were last season. It's all well and good saying that the window isn't closed yet and that other clubs are also struggling to bring players in but I don't think many will have a lack of depth and experience to the extent we do, nor will many others have lost so many from last season.

We are basically hoping that Tomasson turns out to be a good manager, at least better than Mowbray, and that the younger players can step up / we don't get many injuries.

A dangerous and reckless way to approach a Championship season IMO but seems the majority are happy to gamble with it.

Completely agree with you and all of your points. A couple of injuries and things start to look really desperate. 

We're in urgent need of a centre back, a centre midfielder and a striker in my opinion. Anything beyond that would be a bonus. We'll be starting the season on Saturday with less than what we need.

We can try to sign whoever we want but if we can't get those deals done then we have to use what we have and hope. We don't get points or grace for trying to sign players but not doing.

We might well get those players between now and September but the season starts in 4 days, not at the end of August. We could have an uphill struggle by the time people sign.

We get it, we lost 10 First XI players from last season's squad and have only brought in 1 new player (I'd argue that Markanday and Carter make that 3... and we'll see what we get out of Vale / Wharton / Garrett / Barnes / Burns / Leonard).

They were presumably aware of how much work needed to be done with regards to recruitment in May, but chose to have a snooze all Summer, either by design or incompetence.
