Very early days, but credit to JDT and Broughton on Szmodics and Brittain our two permanent signings so far. Initial viewing says they suit the way we are playing very well, promising starts to their careers here.

No plodders, no gap fillers, no jobs for the boys.

Just efficient, purposeful business.

As Broughton and Tomasson eluded to when they first came in, they've inherited a young, hungry, talented squad which just needs a bit of fine tuning.

JDT isn't daft, he wouldn't have taken over just anywhere, the foundations are in place.

As JDT said post match today he said he did his research and watch games from last season to form opinion on players and how tactical they played last season

They are after building on what was here rather than rip up and start again which is 100% the right approach.

That's why it won't look much different at times but it was clearly evident today there is a desire to ramp it up instead of tone it down.

Good that JVPH is coming on Tuesday too.

Very good win today, defensive shape was brilliant. I would say they only caused us trouble down the left, Gallagher worked his socks off to help Pickering. Hedges offers something different through the middle and the midfield looks well balanced

A C/B is a must , a left back would be nice and I still think we are a midfielder light Edun just does not do it for me , If BBD goes then obviously we need to replace him

I'm beginning to desperately hope that Brereton signs a new contract.  He's the only forward player that looks a real goal threat.

He’s scored 1 of the 4 goals we’ve scored so far this season?

To be fair he did say forward player. You can’t really say Sammie looked a goal threat today despite getting the all important first goal.

How many do you see Hedges, Gallagher, Dolan, Vale getting?

Across all competitions, totally speculatively….

Hedges - 5

Gallagher - 10

Dolan - 3

Vale - 2

That’s 25% of our goal tally .. come end of season that would be classed as prolific wouldn’t it

He'll score quite a few this season if he's that calm and collected in front of goal.

The position he's in will lend itself to those qualities - he'll get his chances.

I’ve completely changed my mind on Brereton, I don’t want us to sell him at all and I don’t care if we lose him on a free next summer, I’d rather take the gamble. I don’t think Venky’s would care that much either, and for once their stubbornness might work to our advantage.

it`a bad business to invest 7 million then lose him for nothing,i think we should sell him

That's not a great return and I'm not sure Gallagher has 10 in him playing this role.  Realistically then, we are going to need 20 goals plus from BBD or his replacement to the anywhere near  top 6.

Once again think Pickering played fine today.

Wouldn’t say he did anything of note but he was fine yeah, like I keep saying though I wouldn’t want to rely on him over a full season, I’d like us to sign a left back before the window closes.

I have been going on Ewood for 53 years and I have never once wanted us too sell , our best players , whether that be Newton ,knighton ,Hunter ,Field ,Sir Roger,Hird,Bailey, Crawford , Barker, Hendry, Shearer et Al , it very very rarely works...

Put Johnny Byrom in to that mix just before my time..

Pickering was ok today, people forget how bad our previous left-back was!

Left back is not a position we should be worrying about at this moment!
