Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?

Recommended Posts

I think that VDB will be a good signing, he’s a very good defender and seems to be quick and mobile. He gives us lots of options so seems ideal and would get plenty of game time I’m sure, so not a problem to accept Liverpool’s provisos.

Both VDB and JPVH were picked up cheaply from Holland. Is there not another up and coming CB in Holland that we could buy cheaply? (Chaddy over to you😊).

My concern for JPVH is that he’s  a bit like Harry Maguire great playing in the centre of a back five where he can head the ball away all day or sweep up, but playing high up the pitch in a four will expose his lack of pace and ability to turn quickly. He got absolutely mullered when he played against Fulham.

Surely there isn't contracts that exist where we get fined if a player is injured.

That would be ridiculous.

Fair enough if a player is fit and we choose not to play them.

Any manager/ceo that agrees a contract where we get punished for having a player out injured needs their head banging against wall.

No matter how desperate we might be at the time for said player.

Yet you're taking Nixons word as gospel, hells teeth 🙄

I'm not taking Nixon's word as gospel just find it logical and am aware that many  Prem teams insist on such Clauses when loaning out .

But if I was pushed I would find Nixon far more in the know than Sharpe.

Idealistic and naïve. And a bit straw-man. Nobody is being held to ransom. Liverpool are just protecting their asset. And we don't even know if it's true anyway.

And you've ignored the part about us being desperate. Your 'principled' stance (lol) won't mean a lot if we miss out on promotion because we ran out of fit CB's.

Liverpool stipulating how many games their players plays and effectively picking our team is being held to ransom. You're being blind to reason if you can't see this.

Your stance doesn't have any "principles" (lol). It just caves in to a so-called bigger and more powerful club

They aren't picking the team. They are just stipulating we'll incur financial penalties if we don't play their player an agreed amount of times.

It's a bit silly to say they are holding us to ransom.

Don’t be silly the contract offer was and had been on the table for 2 years. Remember after declining several improved offers he took his agents advice telling the club he was a premier league full back THEN when it became clearer no one was in for him HE and his agent crawled back to Ewood for further talks and after more fannying around Rovers pulled the plug as the agent and Nyambe had messed around ! That’s the real story

Rovers were right to pull the plug on the contract offer. Nyambe and his agent played us like fools.

If we want a permanent centre back signing I would go for Luton centre defender Tom Lockyer. He 27 years old, championship experience(91 games at this level), 14 caps for Wales, play in back 4 or back 3 and was in good form last season during rise to the Playoffs last season

Our manager might not want to select him because of poor form or many other reasons but has to pick him because he is stipulated by the contract to do so. The manager can't do his job properly and team suffers because the contract is loaded in Liverpool's favour

Which is holding us to ransom. It's a bit silly to deny it

forest are signing everybody and anybody,if they don`t survive this season in the premier league then i can see them playing notts county on a regular basis😊,very very risky strategy imo

Agree, just seems to be a scatter gun approach, no way can all these players gel together as quickly as they would like. Dingles doing something similar though not quite on same scale

He can drop him. We just may have to pay a bigger portion of his wages.

You seem to have invented the part where he can't be dropped. It's a bit silly to do that.

He doesn't have to pick him.

We pay the fine, he isn't being forced to choose the player!

Sharpe looked at the contracts? With all due respect Sharpe has been wrong plenty of times .

Like last January when he said we were no longer interested in Maja as Bordeaux wanted a permanent deal only and we couldn't afford it and then he ended up at Stoke on loan.

Loaning out young players is now big buisness for these clubs hence why they collect so many young players.

Think he knows more than us though. Tbh it has never looked, maybe Walton aside, like we were playing someone who wasn't worth their place, not for long.

You can't drop him if he has a certain number of games written into his contract. The wages bit you made up. It's a bit silly to do that
