Well I wish to God we’d had him this week! And to everyone telling us to have patience, maybe have a word with the manager, sorry, head coach. His seems to be wearing very thin. Do you think he played well when in a 2 last season? Maybe jdt doesn't fancy him. Quote

If this is true we’re better off with someone else. We don’t want him bailing out part way through the season. Well as it stands we’ve got nobody. If/when we do sign someone they could be shit, get injured, have a family issue of their own. Doesn’t seem to have bothered Sunderland. I expect he will do well there, let’s see how he performs compared to whoever we do bring in. Quote
Ruaney Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 I think unless he was coming permanently, there was no way we’d go for Van Hecke on loan when we have Van Den Berg coming in. Hopefully we can bring in a permanent Cb aswell otherwise we’ll be back to square one in the summer. I still think we need at least 6 players in. But doubtful obviously. 2 x CB 1 x CM 1 x Striker 1 x Winger 1 x LB ( Pickering’s performance today cemented this for me) 1 Quote
Ruaney Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 Also, not transfer related. But it’s criminal that Dack is still being kept on the bench. 2 Quote

I thought he was crap for his first few games to be honest. Improved drastically when he returned from his ban. As for playing in a 2, he’d be a lot better than bloody Pickering! If that’s the case why have we reportedly been chasing/waiting on him all summer? Edited August 20, 2022 by Miller11 1 Quote

Correct I knew the long delay for a manger would have a knock on effect and that proving to be the case. Even JDT admitted we are a few weeks behind everyone else, and that was couple week ago. 1 Quote

neophox Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 Think Rovers have had Helik as an alternative although he's also injured... Sepp Van Den Berg is a good loan. Surely we have to forget on Van Hecke then.... things always dont go as thought. Quote

If that's the case then based on current recruitment's looks like our level is bottom championship teams and league 1 players in terms of recruitment. Tbh it's probably all we can do with our wage structure. Heard good things though about hi. Quote

There was nothing to be gained from the player's or Brighton's point of view of him coming back here. Why Sunderland? Very simply that they get an average attendance of 30,000 fans at their home games and Brighton need to see if he can cope with playing in front of a big fan base most weeks and the added pressure that brings. Sunderland have made some good signings tbf. Simms looks like a very good player. They also got a good manager in last season in Alex Neil. Quote
neophox Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 Van den Berg is more highly rated than Van Hecke in Holland if its any help... Quote
Upside Down Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 We have neither so it doesn't matter. Quote
Mercer Posted August 20, 2022 Posted August 20, 2022 (edited) Interesting but a sad read since the match ended. Some asking why VH would go to Sunderland - one reason is they have a very good manager in Alex Neil. IMO, some 18 months ago he came close to becoming Rovers' manager until I think someone at Ewood threw a wobbler when Mowbray was already half way through the exit door - I think echoes of the Warnock retraction! Maybe, he's also read the script, 10 players out whilst the 'charge in' of 3 led by Brittain and Szmodics! Is JDT going to do the 'Lambert' walk - well, if Waggott, GB and the V's feck this up then I think we are finished as a club. I wish the signs looked more promising. Think this is a bit pointlessly antagonistic. If he's not available on a permanent deal then the point of signing him diminishes significantly. From what we're told SvdB is of a similar level so, if we're talking loans, they should balance each other out. Another permanent signing from elsewhere before Sept 1st and we should be OK at CB. 2 Quote
