Now we have Hyam I'd rather we left VDB honestly. Those squad places in 4th, 5th choice are exactly where the younger lads like Carter and Phillips should be and getting loans in to stunt their development is something we need to stop doing.

Ayala, Hyam, Wharton, Carter and Phillips should be fine for CB. Let's get some creativity or finishing with that loan instead.

Nixon now saying Schalke made late move for van den berg! Liverpool to decide where he goes. Would like him but think 5 cbs would be enough even if playing 3 at the back. Just means nobody leaves on loan . Would also free up money for another position

Going to be a busy few days

Agree with both and why I asked how many loans we are allowed.

I don't want us using energy, personell and resources to develop one of Liverpools youngsters when we can focus on our own.

After seeing Bournemouth getting beat 9-0 I don't know if I want us to get promoted 😉

We need VDB to cover right back. After Brittain it's JRC.

Anybody watching JRC on Saturday would be having second thoughts.

I think a combination of Mowbray and injuries have set him back years. Personally I think JRC isn't a bad footballer. But he's not an athlete and has been asked to play in one of the most athletic positions on the pitch.

Injuries have taken their toll but he never has been and never will be a RB or RWB. As a result he's now a few years older and neither he nor coaching staff have any idea what his position is so when he is fit he's no direction on what aspects of his game to improve.

Yeah he's also atrocious in the air, and you are onto a hiding at full back if you can't head. Also why I think Eduns never going to make a full back. Rather have someone like Carter playing there and being solid in the air than a JRC or Edun who can be easily targeted.

Edit - scratch that, for some reason I thought Carter is left footed. He's right footed.. wrong footed full backs always a bad idea!

What about left back though?

Think the plan an line up after the window may look like this if Diaz goes

                               Kaminski

                Ayala         SVBD.         Hyam

Brittain                                                        Styles

                       Travis        Morton

       Hedges            Dack             Bowler

He needs a loan to a club where he’s going to play somewhere further up the pitch. I’d go as far as saying it’s essential to save his career.

If he remains a fullback he’ll go the way of Adam Henley.

Similarly keeping Carter makes sense as he can cover LB.

IF Carter can cover LB he can definitely cover RB.

I would like to keep Carter.

Give us a defense of: Brittain, Carter, Philips, Ayala, Wharton, Pickering, Edun and now Hyam. We really don't ned SVDB.

Bowler is on the radar of Forest, bids of £4m on the cards.

He's not coming here, sadly.

We are not getting bowler no matter how many times we keep hoping it ain't happening. 1. He is more than likely going to a prem team

2. We can't afford him

Doubt we'd play Ayala on the right of a three, not mobile enough. Also surely S Wharton starts??

Probs VDB, Hyam, S Wharton as the staring three if we went that way.

Bowler would be a star at Rovers but sadly premierships will get him.

Team not just made up of 11 players though. Competition for places and experience has to be part the squad.

No, the best centre half in the league will always start for us when he’s fit.

Spot on, I'd rather have A Wharton than Morton, Clarkson was shite, so really is there actually any point in this.?

Club can’t win here can they, don’t get loans and develop our own there’s people on here saying it’s all a conspiracy theory and we aren’t trying to get promoted etc

or we get loans in to improve the current ability and people moan we are not developing our own!

Not sure why folk still think Styles and Bowler are coming. No chance.

Does Butterworth want to be a professional footballer? I've never a player look so disinterested and unwilling to put in a shift that him. Butterworth needs to work on a factory production line for a while to show him what hard work is like - then he might realise how lucky he is. Vale needs to play in League 2 for a while to toughen him up

Thing is, you'd have thought the loan to Fleetwood would've woken him up yet he was absolutely atrocious when he did play.
