Wheelton Blue Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Oh no. The first game I ever went to was the 5-2 win over Plymouth in 75. Hooked ever since thanks to Gordon and that side. 3 Quote
windymiller7 Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 RIP Gordon. Just before my time (actually led Rovers to the 3rd division title about the time I was entering the World) Assume there'll be a deserved minutes applause at tonight's game. Quote

Riversider28 Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Very sad news. I always remember seeing the words “Lee is God” that someone sprayed on a wall in the town centre. Not quite, but it seemed like it when we won the 3rd Division title. R.I.P. 1 Quote
Stonesrick Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Enjoyable time watching us win the 3rd Division. He was a member at my golf club and I had a few games with him over the years. He was still playing until last year. Like quite a few former players/managers I have met, seemed to fall out of love with the game. RIP Gordon. Quote
oldjamfan1 Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 (edited) RIP Gordon. He was still playing golf right up to more or less the end. Great manager and a lovely man. Reunited with Captain Fantastic Graham Hawkins 💙🤍 Edited March 8, 2022 by oldjamfan1 2 Quote
Mercer Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 Did a fantastic job for Rovers and gave us a thrilling promotion season - who could forget the 5-2 win over promotion rivals Plymouth when we were 2 goals down. Fortunate enough to meet the man on a couple of occasions - had so much enthusiasm and was very straightforward. Very sorry when he left Rovers for Newcastle but that's football. RIP Gordon and thanks for the memories. 2 Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted March 8, 2022 Posted March 8, 2022 I remember him playing left back for Villa on an icy Ewood pitch, it was really difficult to turn around and Fergie gave him a chasing. Quote
Popular Post arbitro Posted March 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted March 8, 2022 RIP Gordon Lee. He dragged us from a nondescript club to become Third Division champions on a shoestring. I'll never forget Plymouth at home or Port Vale away, they are up there with any Rovers game I have ever seen. He gave us some pride and identity and we are so grateful for that. Thanks for the memories Gordon. 10 Quote
