Ainsworth said he's "flattered" to be linked, so why not? He'd have best part of a Brereton sale to play with, a Category A academy to depend upon, an increased salary, etc. He clearly enjoys himself at Wycombe, but he's been there for nine years and I've no doubt he'd want to prove himself at a club with better resources, not least his boyhood club.

I think Carvalhal would like another crack at the Championship, although I'm not convinced by him.

Farke has been out of a job for a good few months, and maybe he's not as out of reach as we first thought on a footballing level, although it sounds like he'd need a DoF and a budget to go with it.

Dyche might be the only one out of reach. Will have received a massive payoff from Burnley and can bide his time to see if a better club comes knocking.

Main issue with Carhalval is that he's only ever at clubs for 1 season (or less!)

Looks like Sheff we'd was his only stint longer than that, and in fairness he managed 2 play off finishes, getting to the final in one of those.

Wouldn't be much of a long term solution but it doesn't really matter if he got us promoted.

It’s impossible to guess what way this will end up. My head says the only option is farke. But am I the only one who would love to see someone who loves the club lead us back to the PL. I do think ainsworth could be the answer. That’s the romantic in me. I just want to see that beautiful jersey on display at anfield. Everything is in place for rovers to get back to the promised land. We just need the right leader to add the finishing touches. Resign darragh and let’s go

I must say, hearing Ainsworth speak, he really won me over, passionate, positive, players must love playing for him!  He has made his team better than the sum of its parts and also made his players significantly better than the level they shoild actually be at!?

A very poor man's Jurgen Klopp maybe!

But yes think he speaks well and could be exactly what we need for the next 5yrs!

Lots of drawbacks too. Key players leaving on free transfers, our sole goal threat about to be sold due to his contract with very little guarantee of any money to put back in, a precedent of 8th which will be very difficult to match without any money, owners who are absent yet still want to sign things off causing massive delays, a yearly summoning to India.

Only Rothwell that has left Rovers who is key player. Lenihan and Nyambe are still in talks over a new contract. I'm not the biggest fan of Nyambe tho many on here are.

Brereton is likely to leave but who knows what money we get next season cos Mowbray got money to spend during his time here.

Huddersfield and Luton didn't have loads of money to spend over the past 2 seasons but recruit well and got a playoff place. Same as Barnsley previously season.

If we make a good appointment then a promotion should be the target within 2 seasons.

From a financial point of view and the clubs reputation, both have never been in a worse state in the modern era. We have an ex-manager, widely seen by many as punching above his weight, bringing stability, whilst shopping in the bargain basement for free transfers and loans.

Despite the initial bravado at the managerial change about to happen, you all know what’s coming next don’t you?

King rat, Berg, Appleton, Bowyer, Lambert, Colye, Mowbray…….xxxxx

I don't get the Ainsworth thing to be honest.  If he wasn't a Rovers supporter I doubt he'd register.

Why? Edwards in a lower league has just been appointed manager of Watford. He may only be there for the first couple of games but they’ve taken a punt on him. I’d give Ainsworth a chance. He’s certainly no f’in Coyle.

Being a Rovers supporter is a huge plus. He will know the fans frustration having sat in the stadium he will know what the fans expect.  He'll also not sit on his hands if the players aren't performing. He's not my first choice but I wouldn’t be against it. Preston and Blackpool have benefited from novice coaches at this level. Farke Is still my number 1 choice

We need a manager who can put this club into the Premiership in the next couple of years, do you think Ainsworth is that man roverandout?

All those who attach importance to developing youth and relying on our academy or playing attractive football are going to struggle to reconcile that with a desire to appoint Ainsworth.

If there is one manager and team that doesn't play that football and doesn't have a young side it is Wycombe.

Of course he 'might' change if he comes here but so might anyone else in the world. Seems unlikely to me if he's done it a certain way at Wycombe for a decade and it works for him.

8 million on Brererton and 5 million on Gallagher is bargain basement.

That was a lifetime ago but it did happen. Our spending over the last 4 transfer windows = £1.99.

£300k for a new pitch = No money. Ground maintenance = No money. Playing assets new contracts = No money.

If you think the new man is getting serious funds good luck to you.
