Sounds like blame deflection from Waggott in case a lousy appointment is made. Why would owners who we are told allegedly "never refuse to sign a cheque" and who even if that is not quite right definitely pump £20m p.a. into the Club anyway, pass up on the best candidate for the sake of sacking a couple of coaching staff who may not have that long left to go on their contracts? Imo it'd be far more likely the penny pinching barrow boy who unilaterally decided the extra staff wasn't an option and never even put it to the owners. Otherwise it might impact on the perception of his performance in reducing costs and losses. I really wouldn't put it past him to fuck us over with one final dismal appointment and have another crack at selling Brockhall on the vague promise of a shiny new facility sometime never before disappearing off into the sunset to count his money. Whist I don't believe it for a second, if Pardew is appointed I'm out. There would still be a silver lining though if JB's mate is correct. Waggott apparently faithfully assured Duncan (Miller) that if an appointment was foisted upon him he didn't like, his position would be untenable and he'd walk away from his £300 k p.a. job. Right? Wow, some fantastic mental gymnastics there to absolve the owners from any blame. Anybody else and I’d say it was a parody. Indeed this farce of an appointment process is all a Swag ruse to, *checks notes*, try and sell Brockhall again. End of the day whatever depths this club falls too, it is never the fault of the people that owned it for 12 years in your eyes. Such a strange devotion you have to them, and you won’t ‘be out’ for a second if Pardew is appointed, you’ll just put the blame on the powerless pen pusher that is Waggott and spend Pardew’s tenure lamenting how he’s wasting the cash and taking advantage of our generous and benevolent backers, who presumably are hostages in their own business to these managers that seemingly appoint and then keep on themselves. If we could get to the bottom of his background, where he came from, who he's represented by, and the exact nature of his relationship with the owners it might shed a bit of light on things. I think he knows something or is in with the spivs who most certainly do. His retention through so many managerial changes should be impossible in the modern football world. Benson - no comment, it would not end well .....
tomphil Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 Lowe might provide an eyes and ears link from inside the dressing room to further up the food chain.

tomphil Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I don't think Pardew fits well with Northern clubs so i doubt he'd pitch himself for it. 1

Not just that, he's Kean-level arrogant and there's a reason why he's been fishing around random European leagues and not being employed in the UK (because he's shit). Newcastle fans despised him and couldn't wait to get shut of his Cockney wide-boy ways. He's just not a Rovers manager and I can't see anything but disaster if he lands here. If Farke is definitely off the table, which if the staffing position is anything to go by, he most likely is, I'd much rather go for younger and 'on the up' candidates like Ainsworth. 5
SuperBrfc Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 There are some things that don't make sense to me. We have heard how those on the ground, apparently, don't have much in the way of authority and that the real decision making power lies in Pune. Ok, fine. If that is the case, why would there be a power struggle going on now then, as is being suggested. With who? is the bigger question, for me. I saw somebody mention the tea and Madeira cake man in an earlier post, but I don't believe that myself. He doesn't have much power to challenge them, remember. The dot to dot game is currently being played in my mind. There was a so called power struggle back in 2012/13 too, but those parties are no longer at the club. If people are playing silly beggars again, we need to know who and why. Has a certain departure put a few noses out of joint, I wonder? There are plenty of underwhelming managers many of us don't want for various reasons, inexperience being one. Woodgate has just jumped right to the top of it for me.

Waggott apparently faithfully assured Duncan (Miller) that if an appointment was foisted upon him he didn't like, his position would be untenable and he'd walk away from his £300 k p.a. job. Right? Last point first. Faithfully assured? Not really. I’ve quoted the exact conversation in detail. At least 3 other people who have posted on this thread were there too. He was clear enough though, and if we end up with an HSH nobody he has put pressure on himself, and he will definitely be publicly reminded of the conversation. On to the rest. You ask why the owners would pass up the best candidate for the job. Million dollar (or £200 million) question. Why did they bin Warnock off for Coyle? At that point he was literally the worst imaginable candidate apart from re-hiring Steve Kean… and do we really need to talk about his appointment? Your attempts to pin the blame for all the wrongs of the last 12 years on Steve Waggott is ridiculous. It’s obvious why you are doing it - your old school mates want to basically take his job. If you want to support them in that, fine, crack on. Just come out with it though. They might well do a better job than Waggott, and I understand you and they don’t want to slate Venky’s if that’s the plan, but your reframing of everything, and glossing over or outright ignoring every horrific and damaging decision that occurred while Waggott was still knocking about at Southend and Charlton is really disingenous. 8
bradford rover Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I did not renew my season ticket last season because of Mowbray.... I nearly took up the half season offer but because of work dates clashing with fixtures I declined . Which as it turned out was a blessing I have been waiting on the manager appointment as to whether I get mine and 2 daughter's tickets and am still waiting. But the last few days has really been a wake up call it seems we are still an amateur set up ... I hope I am wrong but I fear the worse and will not buy season tickets u nless we appoint a manager who we can believe in , sad but my money my choice and hard a decision as it is I really am struggling to be motivated my club seems lost . 6

Backroom Madon Posted June 1, 2022 Backroom Posted June 1, 2022 He wouldn't be my first choice, far from it, but it'd just be the same as a Carrick/Lampard/Rooney style appointment and if anything he has more experience albeit in a crap league. Noticed he's liked all of the tweets from Michael Beale today about him joining QPR. 2

I mean that's Newcastle fans for ya, he even won manager of the year there and took them on a fine European campaign. Granted he also had a Mowbray esque post Xmas collapse one season too. His time at West Brom and beyond have been shite though and he wouldn't be on my shortlist. There's no reason to even be discussing him though unless you believe a nonsense rumour from someone on here with a 0% track record of getting anything right from his 'sources' 🤣 Edited June 1, 2022 by Ossydave

I dont think Lenihen will be signing a new deal if Mcarthy is appointed. Come on he has done nothing to warrant being a number 1 at Rovers. Nothing against the guy but I'd be less worried if we were bringing him in as a Brererton replacement rather than manager.
