Nixon is adamant that it's all but official (not Friedel, namely, but the Sporting Director). I did hear yesterday from a third party that we're getting somebody in with a former affiliation with the club. So many mixed messages and hearsay, but it would be great to have two talented Brads at the club. Michel Salgado

I would of course hope he is a success. You'd be surprised. I usually feel clued up on these things but I didn't know he was a Rover until after he was linked. I wanted him before that because his record at Wycombe is extraordinary and his passion in press conferences made me like him even more. He's everything Mowbray isn't and, imo, is deserving of a shot in this league regardless of his fandom.

If they don't appoint someone better they've f***ed up yet again. They've strung this out too long already, and if Sharpe is to be believed, it's going to drag out for another couple of weeks yet. 5-6 weeks, and they'll end up revealing Jonathan bloody Woodgate 😂

Guest
Isn’t employing a manager before DoF like a business hiring a production manager before a COO? It would’ve been proper Blackburn Rovers if we’d have got Carvalhal over the line and then brought in a DoF who he hated and he resigned.

roverandout
Blackpool fans have huge delusions of grandeur regarding managers. Cavarhal (who's now got a job), dyche, Rooney. No offence but they won't get them. Some have suggested Mowbray but others are poo pooing it for his boring football. Some have suggested ainsworth so it's clear they're thinking of the same types of manager as us

Blackpool tend to show a little more creativity with their appointments, but we shall see.

Which I guess is a chance to impress, albeit briefly, in the Prem. i though Gary McAllister was no 2 at villa unless he is looking to move on maybe looking for a managers job again

He was but he walked into a Prem club that had won the league a few years earlier. Not really the same ball park now and a few do step into management at Championship level these days. All depends what you want as a club i suppose.

Yep the dOF when he comes in won't be able to do much except be told what to do by the guy below and follow the remit from above. ( not like there'll be one ) This will be classic agent led Venkys just throw a few people together and hope for the best. We have to remember the last manager chose his own CEO and promoted his assistant to some kind of DOF. So who is picking and instructing people now ?

That prompted me to have a google, and I see an article from just a week ago describing McAllister as 'Aston Villa assistant coach' and 'Gerrard's assistant'. An article from today (same website, Skysports) describes Beale as departing to QPR from Villa 'where he served as assistant manager to Steven Gerrard' and later as 'assistant head coach' and that he was appointed to the role in November. Critchley is described as replacing him. My best guess is there is a distinction between 'assistant head coach' and 'assistant coach' at Villa. Assistant coach just probably being a first team coach, or maybe a no.3 role. Either that or they have two no.2s, which would be very odd. And I can't find anything about McAllister leaving.
