Which utterly brilliant manager will we be delighted to welcome next?

Our new reporter given the following update to chaddy’s question on Twitter. Don’t know whether to be relieved or even more worried that Ferguson hasn’t been discussed at Rovers. Probably means he’s a sure fire for the job!

Agree to disagree.

Watching games as a neutral has become more and more difficult for me. The amount of blatant time wasting and diving that goes on - obviously both contribute to that side winning - just makes me turn off.

It's all about money and winning now - it should be about entertainment.

I completely agree with the first part. Saturday was the first Champions League match I have watched in years. I thought it was dull and boring. I only really enjoy watching lower and non-league games as a neutral, and the FA cup earlier rounds.

With Rovers though I enjoy seeing us win. When Allardyce was sacked we could justifiably have put it down to wanting a better style of play, but we all know what happened next. It’d be reasonable for anyone to want better than the slightly past his peak Allardyce we had then… now we can’t dream of anyone that effective.

What world does Jackson live in!?

Sky closed market for Burnley manager and will be closing market for Rovers' manager should odds goes much below the current 4/11 for Ferguson.

I'm still hoping that Rovers appoint Carlos Carvalhal as our next head coach and we know he has at least been interviewed by Waggott and Pasha. He fits the type of head coach I want to see here. Good coach and tactical aware, bring through youth and knows this league well. Also appears he wants to come to the club.

On Farke and him being Venkys first choice to come. If this was the case and he wanted to come here, surely he would be appoint by now and been unveil by the club but nothing has happened so why not! Plus Waggott and Pasha wouldn't be interviewing 8 candidates either.

On the Ferguson link, He is experience coach who have worked under some very good managers like Carlo Ancelotti, Rafa Benitez at Everton. He was have loads on contacts within the game. He wouldn't be my overall first choice but I don't think he would be the worst choice and could be success here. I am open minded on him.

On Critchley and Manning suggestions on here. Both have background in youth development and goo coach. Would be decent choices but deserve to be interview in my opinion. Are Rovers willing to pay compensation for Critchley cos he has 4 years left on his contract

The evidence that the managerial search isn’t organised is Venky’s tenure so far and the fact he’s been gone nearly a month and we haven’t appointed anyone yet?

Barnsley, QPR and Burnley searches have been similar length to our search for our next head coach appointment

The odds mean the square root of nothing.

Regarding Jackson's quote on Ferguson:

Why would anybody at Blackburn Rovers be mentioning candidates' names?

Some of you aren't fans of the LT, but I'd argue what Sharpe reports is concrete, if not spectacular. Based on him being about the only journalist that I can trust, we only know for certain that Carvalhal has been interviewed. We have no idea who else has been interviewed, other than the hearsay and rebuttals.

Given that decisions and control is done in a country thousands of miles away, I suspect we only really know a fraction of what is really going on. I still believe it will be a surprise appointment with a name that has either barely had a mention or not been mentioned at all. Hopefully it's a David Wagner rather than a Lee Clark.

well I asked him was this directly from club but he hasn't reply so far.

Let's use the pitch as a way of validating these so called improvements.

What are they specifically doing differently this time around that has not been done in previous years?

It is a huge upgrade surface wise and is specialised to go with the added lighting due to the height of the stands.

Who was pushing the sale then?

Waggots pitch (if you'll pardon the pun) was a load of bullshit.

Comparing the new plans to Everton's training ground was embarrassing.

We would have lost pitches and been 1/3 the size of Everton's training ground, we would have seen devastating cuts to our academy.

It wasnt Venus or Mowbray thats for sure !

I'm sure Critchley would have a buy-out clause in his contract; I would be certain all but the very top managers would have the same. Would we be willing to pay a fee? Probably not.

Wagner's promotion with Huddersfield was probably a bigger feat than Farke's two promotions at a well-resourced Norwich. Wagner also managed to do something Farke couldn't - keep his team in the Premier League for an extra season.

I certainly wouldn't say no to Farke, but my worry is that he had healthy budgets to work with, even if that came from selling. He'd have nowhere near that level of spending money here. Could he be resourceful in the way that we'd need him to be for a promotion push? I think Wagner has more credibility on that front.

Wagner has barely had a mention. We might hear about the Fergusons or the Carvalhals, but I do wonder who the other candidates are. Wagner is out of work, but I think he'd be a great choice if he's one of the mystery candidates.

Farke first time round at Norwich spent around £4 million to get them promoted and promoted youth players like Max Aarons, Todd Cantwell etc from the academy.

Second time round, granted he spent £11m but they brought in around £40m in player sales that year.

It was also predominantly the same squad second time round as they hardly spent after their first promotion to the Premier League.

Granted Wagner did a fantastic job at Huddersfield but I think Farke’s two promotions with Norwich aren’t an easy achievement.

I’ve seen Eddie Howe at 1/10 for the Celtic job and not end up getting the gig. I still believe Big Dunc doesn’t end up here.

He will only go to 4/11 by you putting more bets on.

Multiple people are saying he isn't in the running.I will be well and truly shocked if Duncan Ferguson us our next manager

I did find Critchley's sudden leap up the betting odds intriguing, he'd gone from nowhere  to as low as 12/1 last night and I wouldn't have thought he would have attracted any backers without some sort of expression of interest in the manager's role at Ewood.

I think Critchley would be a good addition and imo he would have been a good replacement for Mowbray at various times when the latter was tanking but I assumed we'd missed the boat for good he signed a new contract at Blackpool.

Have to wait and see I guess.

As reported on the 8th May, Wagner was on the opening list (V's List), I'm a little surprised that's not gained far more traction or a wider discussion/debate regarding the potential in that appointment on here in particular.

Our first Foreign appointment given that opening list would be more likely than a British Manager, especially if you add Carvalhal to the three mentioned before. That's four foreign coaches, and very little being offered in opposition to a British Manager.

Karl Robinson now favourite for QPR. Might be a red herring, but it would be very odd to sack Warburton and replace him with Robinson.

Seems Burnley have made their choice and it’s just about the detail.

The worry for us is not so much the time being taken, but the distinct possibility of a poor appointment.

I think the max bet is £30, so its not exactly major money being thrown at anyone. Manager markets are not a game of chance, so the bookies wont take big bets due to leaks from grandma's, sisters, girlfriends, uncles etc

I'm a bit worried that Carrick features prominently in the betting at 12/1, makes Ferguson look like a managerial old hand with only 3 games managed as a stand in.

So we're seemingly interested in two guys who have managed a grand total of eight games between them. I don't really get the attraction of that type of appointment.
