A two part interview is just not the normal way a club would go about appointing a new manager / head coach.

You go after your preferred candidate and make every effort to get them. If you fail with your first choice, you repeat with the second choice, and so on.

All the method we are using achieves is to annoy any half decent candidate.

Add to that the confusion surrounding the Director of Football role.

It’s like a crap version of The Apprentice, with Waggott instead of Sir Alan.

I’d say once, Lambert.

We had one guy out, and a new guy with a good reputation in, with staff, in days. Yes, it didn’t work out, but that’s football. However for a brief (very brief) period we were behaving like a normal football club…

Then we had a summer just like this and a fella name Coyle rolled in.

They've run multi million pound, successful businesses over decades. I’d imagine that’s enough ‘history’ to suggest they can get it right here, one day!

Agreed, Lambert was the anomaly. On the face of it a good appointment.. looking at him now though he's about the standard we've come to expect..

May I ask how many high level appointments you’ve made in any industry?

We have clients who have 6 point recruitment processes, including psych testing etc for jobs paying much less, with less profile.

A friend of mine applied for the England under 21 job and had three interviews before they binned him!

The hyperbole remark was regarding Mowbray compared to most of the rest of the so-called 'managers'.

I'm glad he's gone, he ultimately outstayed his welcome but not sure you can disagree that he's left us in a better place than we were when he rocked up or you gonna dispute that too 'cos it fits the agenda?

If they're in a mess, it's one entirely of their own making. They've persisted with Mowbray when any other club would've binned him. They've known for ages that he's leaving. This isn't a case of, take our time, get it right. This is a case of, rovers is bottom of the list of priorities. Look at the fucking state the ground is at.

They've run DOWN a multi million pound successful business here Paul.

There is absolutely no synergy between how they run their other businesses and how they run Rovers.

That is one of my real frustrations over the last decade.

I get annoyed when Mowbray constantly gets directly compared to the lowest common denominator in Coyle as if that's the only alternative and whilst the latter undoubtedly did poorly he had the rug pulled from under his feet before he got here with Hanley, Duffy and Rhodes sold and no worthwhile funds to play with whereas Mowbray has been lavishly backed over his tenure in comparison to the point where he could simply waste £2m by sending Mulgrew to Coventry (or rather Wigan and Fleetwood) for a couple of seasons.

Why are we seemingly just focusing on the free agent market?

Why after a few weeks in to a manager search are we not hearing that the club have approached clubs for permission to speak to their managers?

It was claimed on here Mowbray was close to being potted a year ago yet seemingly no plan was in place as to who would be the preferred option when he did leave?

Agree getting the best option is priority but from the outside looking in, it looks an absolute circus once again

I agree mate, I’m not one for benchmarking everything on the past, I was just replying to a poster who was pointing out the last 12 years.

In all honesty, I’ll be gutted if we get an Adkins or Grayson too but I’d be open to most of the others mentioned. Would love Farke or Carvalhal.

But I refuse to let daily rumours ruin my day. I’ll deal with my delight / despair when a manager and DOF are appointed.

Glen is rarely off when he’s this sure so I won’t be ruling Farke out until he’s signed elsewhere.

In the 70’s we had Ken Furphy, Gordon Lee, Jim Smith, Howard Kendall - all so successful they were stolen away by First Division Clubs. Of course we had a board of directors that actually knew something about football then.

I don’t think any of the evidence points to your assertions being correct….we didn’t only take 60 odd applications from freebies, did we? We don’t know who has been interviewed? If they’d planned to pot Mowbray last year, how could they maintain a plan over a 12 month timeframe?

If the plan was to let Mowbray leave and then cast our net out to find the best possible team then that’s still a plan…

If we finish up with Farke and Webber on 13/06 none of us will care that it took a month or so 👍🏼
