Venkys having a) set aside a sizeable budget for a proper promotion push next season, and b) speeding up their painstakingly slow operational decisions at the football club, perhaps trusting and properly delegating responsibilities to competent management down at Ewood. On that basis, I think this "Farke has shown his interest" story is a load of testicles, notwithstanding it being a footnote from a red-top journalist. I'd be putting my money on Damien Johnson. Farke will need time to develop and bring in his own players but we have a good academy who produces good players which is one of the main attraction to the job, Budget and wages for new players and the fact that owners leave you to get on with the job and run the footballing side of the club 1
tomphil Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Iv'e an open mind on the manager situation but letting Mowbray drift away at the end of his contract could well just be another cost cutting exercise. Letting Mowbray go and Venus when his contract is up then making an internal appointment might save them a million quid per season. They are daft enough to try anything and who knows, it might work.

Some good groundwork has been laid, even though we will lose a few of our established players. When/if we sell BBD this summer then hopefully a new manager will be given most or all of that money to reinvest. Handing Johnson or another cheaper option the job will be a red flag in that sense.

I'm sure Farke would be interested IF - The salary was tempting - The budget was workable - He could pick his own staff Whether those conditions could be met remains to be seen. The longer the Club delay the bog standard message of thanks to Mowbray for his service, the more nervous I'm getting. 1

Riemer had worked with Farke at Dortmund reserves and SV Lippstadt 08 and arrived at the club with him in May 2017. Domogalla arrived at the same time, also from Dortmund B, and oversaw all aspects of sports science and fitness at the club. John had been appointed in November 2018 from Paderborn, where he was assistant with their Under-21s. He had worked with Farke at SV Lippstadt. 2

I assume he can pick his own staff, otherwise the receptionist is on physio and the canteen staff are all now running first team sessions. 4
Mercer Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Understand there is a certain fixation with Hasselbaink. Wouldn't be my choice, however, if you have a spare fiver or tenner in your pocket then at 20/1 could be worth a punt.

The only time he’s got things right in recent times was when his mate Coyley was here, since then he’s not broke any story on the club and has only sometimes tweeted out info that was already known. He said Armstrong was going to palace! 1

Armchair supporter supremo Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 I think equally as important to which manager comes in is which assistants and 1st team coaches join him, because our current bunch just seem like mediocre yes men. If we want to progress we need a higher calibre of coaching and management right through the first team. 1
JHRover Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Hasselbaink is 50 and has been a manager for nearly a decade. Not young and not up and coming. 2
Norbert Rassragr Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 (edited) Put a few pounds on a few names, but not the good ones. Woodgate, Grayson, Venus, Lennon and Hughton. Hughton was rubbish at Forest, but may do better at a new job. I'm in profit if any of them get the job, though I'd be delighted to lose the £10 on those bets. Edited May 1, 2022 by Norbert Rassragr 1
JHRover Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Hughton doesn't strike me as a desperado who will throw himself at any job just to get back into work. Strikes me as a bloke with sense who will bide his time and make sure his next move is a good one after Forest. Other than that poor run at the start of this season his CV is very impressive and we could do a lot worse, and I could see merit in offering it him and hoping that he brought back the performance from his Newcastle, Birmingham and Brighton days. Again I don't think he moves in the right circles or has the right connections to crop up here. Woodgate could be a runner. Desperate for a job and easy to bend to whatever plan we have.
SuperBrfc Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Hasselbaink would be a cheap option, which wouldn't be surprising. If there's anything in the Farke interest we've got to be all over that quickly, before somebody else nabs him. It's just a hunch, but I think Nigel Adkins could be the man coming in.
Aqualung Posted May 1, 2022 Posted May 1, 2022 Last few posts.... No no and no. Rather have Don Mccacky back. For me, if he ain't to interested in the QPR job, give the rocker Ainsworth a chance. Considering his success at the choir boys why not?
