I always remember getting on coaches at Foundry Hill and dreading "thin birdy" getting on the same one. 1

Andy Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 I don't know too much about Deila, to be perfectly honest, but his managerial career to date holds up (minus a couple of years at Valerenga). Apparently plays high tempo attacking football, ideally for more than half a season... 1
rover23 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 (edited) What exactly has Ronny Deila done to deserve the Rovers job? Did ok in the Norwegian League, moved to Celtic and won the league during a time that their only challengers were Aberdeen. Then went back to the Norwegian league and did poorly. After that he goes to the MLS, the retirement village for ex Premier League players. NO THANKS. I’d rather have Warne, Ainsworth or even Dunc. Edited June 7, 2022 by rover23 1

I always knew them as Darwen Birdy and Church Birdy. The latter was on the coach to Orient, the day Waggy got the first ever red card. He (Birdy, not Waggy) supped a bottle of wine/whiskey, threw the empty bottle down the coach which split a lad’s head open. He was a Grade A certified nutcase.

In my mind, the late Stuart Baird (think I've got his name right) was the original, and in many ways unique, 'Birdy'. Is that back of the blackburn end hard birdy 1

You never know in football and it pays to think ahead in any business. Spot on. I was going to post the same a few days ago but lethargy set in. Every well run club in the country should have players in mind, for each position in the team, should a bad injury rule out one of their players for any length of time. The same applies for a replacement manager/head coach. 1
Tormund Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Would take Deila, better than some of the names mentioned lately. 6

Torgeir Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Deila would be a good signing. Brings with him a lot of enthusiasm and experience from overachieving (Strømsgodset) and underachieving (Vålerenga), as well as from different countries; Norway, Scotland and USA. Also used to working under a DoF so no issues there. There were some rumours flying around during his time at Vålerenga, but not going to speculate/elaborate further on that as I don't know if it has any real foundation. If he can choose between Standard Liege and Rovers, he'll probably seek advise from Berg and choose the former.

He’s experienced three leagues that are a crap standard, has no experience of English football, and his most recent football experience is in the top flight league that has the least pressure 4

andyroversmad Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 (edited) I truly give up if the only options for our next manager are Deila, Ferguson, Ainsworth, Warne etc... Edited June 7, 2022 by andyroversmad
martonrover Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Deila has a better record at New York than Patrick Viera did, and he’s doing okay in the Premier League. He’s an experienced manager with a decent track record, albeit not in the strongest leagues. I think he’d be a credible appointment. 5

Guest Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Seen as everyone is throwing names around and rumours in the press start here I’ll leave you with a another couple of names. Out of work and in need of building a rep back up Quique Setien Vilas-boas
