You can only assume it’s because they want to behave like idiots.

Bunch of ignorant stunc (anag.) if ye ask me... Ignorant about football. Ignorant about reality. But most depressing of all, after 12 sodding years, completely ignorant about BLACKBURN ROVERS and the proud club we once were, and deserve to be again.

I can imagine performance reviews in Chicken HQ...

I said it for years but the second season after promotion he should have been sacked.

I said it then and maintained that stance throughout.

You also stated on Rovers Chat in August that if Mowbray lasted the season then we would be definitely relegated! You were proved wrong of course.

If, after all this time and (painful) process, we end up hiring Pardew, I think I'll actually cry.

The main advantage to the appointment of Broughton in my book is that someone like Pardew would have such an inflated opinion of themselves they probably  wouldn't be prepared to work under and defer to a DOF.

Unfortunately the converse probably applies in respect of a genuinely good candidate. Between that and the apparent requirement to work with Lowe, Benson and Johnson rather than staff of their own choice and I really can't see a decent appointment being forthcoming.

I mean they weren't far wrong - we finished 2nd bottom of the form table (losing to bottom in the process) after January.

By the same token, we finished 2nd, based on the first half of the season?

Possibility?

With us being weeks down the road now with our laborious process, I don't see someone new suddenly entering the running. Especially if they've only just become available, meaning they wouldn't have been on the radar.

With the players back next week, surely even this farcical setup wouldn't string the process along for another couple of weeks, risking more shortlist candidates going elsewhere, because another shiney new name popped up on the scene...surely? Right?

3rd, 1 point behind Bournemouth after we had both played 23 games. 18/12/21

Whoever is responsible for the managerial pursuit either needs firing or to resign. It's total incompetence on their behalf or they haven't been back by their employer. Either way there should be a casualty that isn't just the fans and season ticket sales.

Bit hasty, we might end up with Benitez yet 😉

It's only my take on the situation and I could be wrong, but my gut feeling is that we are going to get done in with Deila in the same way that has happened with Farke and Carvalhal. There are already red flags which point towards it not happening for me.

Unleaded's info, also covered by the LT in part, tells us that it's not a straightforward deal. They don't want to let him go and if they do, they'd be due compensation. There's also a matter of a work permit being needed. This deal is likely to take some time to complete overall and I don't see this lot getting it over the line.

There's the issue of Deila having to work with the existing coaching team at Rovers. Would he be happy with that? It's hard to say.

However, the main problem, imo, is the fact that Standard Liege are also vying for his services. I've been reading how Liege have serious backers in American owners who are planning on throwing money at it next season. They are offering Deila the chance to completely overhaul their squad in order to compete for the title next season.

Liege have also appointed Fergal Harkin as Sporting Director. The same Harkin that helped Deila to get the Celtic job. They've got an ambitious project going on there with money to spend.

Compare that to the buttons, in comparison, that he will get here, the restrictions he will have and Venky's all round pace when it comes to signings etc. If it comes down to a shootout between Rovers and Liege,  I don't fancy us to win it, as much as that hurts to type.

Out of the four names the press has linked us with recently, that is: Ferguson, Warne, Deila, and Knutsen, only the Deila link seems to have any substance behind it. Ferguson and Warne have both denied there being any contact from Rovers. Knutsen appears to be lazy journalism based on Broughton's appointment.

My point is, if Deila is the main target and he says no, who the heck is in reserve in this lot's thinking?

I fancy this to drag on until July 1st.

I’m hoping he is involved in the search, and I’m quite happy to give him a chance.

However, the current state of play is that our (home produced) captain is about to walk away for   zilch, at the peak of his career.

Perhaps, had a manager / head coach been appointed in good time, he may have been persuaded to stay.

Who knows if Lenihan would have stay but I think his Boro deal has been done for a while

Yet again the situation apparently hinging on any new man's willingness to take on Lowe, Johnson and Benson.

Utterly bizarre.

Ronny Deila might want to keep one or 2 of them as they know the playing squad. I would like to see Lowe and Benson gone with Bobby Mimms coming back in.

All that's standing out to me from that tweet is a football club getting rid of a manager and appointing a new one within days.

What sort of South American witchcraft is this?!

Such things are beyond the realm of mortal man surely.

Not very comforting to read that on the eve of the transfer window opening it’s reported that we are PLANNING to hold discussions with potential candidates.  Planing to maybe talk to them.  As in we’re still at square 1. As in we’re operating as if we had no idea there was an opening for manager before now. Fucking shambles!

"Know the playing squad" and "Knows the club" are regularly phrases banded about. Why is this automatically seen as a huge positive? Surely anyone will get to know them over time but if the approach is a fresh start then its best not to be too reliant on existing opinions too much?

Any new manager should be allowed within reasonable finances be able to pick and choose his coaching staff.

Paul Jewell on standby

Don't even say it, I mean Jewell actually head hunted Lowe when he was at Wigan so he'd even have his old mate already installed! It's literally the perfect appointment for the loons.
