Oldgregg86 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 Genuinely think woodgate is the worst appointment possible out of the likely candidates , followed by pardew. Anyone else I could get behind even if it’s not that inspiring 3

Yes I'll support the guy, thats what we do, but he's not of the calibre needed to get this club into the Premiership, he's the cheapest option willing to tow the party line. Venkys out. 3

Even with Ferguson i personally think he'd make a poor manager for us, but at least I like his never say die attitude, was a big fan of him as a player and could get behind him (just please dont make me have to though 🙏) but the likes of woodgate, pardew, etc... I just dislike on every level Edited June 12, 2022 by Armchair supporter supremo 1

So now is it not only “I’m not renewing unless Mowbray goes”, it’s “I’m not renewing unless it’s a manager I personally approve of” Interesting to hear how you’ll get behind him if you’re not there Edited June 12, 2022 by Tugayisgod 2

What if he’s good? We won’t know. Same could be said about all of the unknowns at other clubs who have exceeded expectations.

tomphil Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 They want a foreign coach just for the sake of it and whilst a smokescreen of interesting names was thrown up they've been beavering around in the cheaper Scandanavian market by looks of it. Now it's a straight shootout between the likes of JDT or British inexperienced and cheap coach to step up. Woodgate would absolutely reek of the continuing Boro connection that seemingly now lives under the surface at Ewood. Miss out or get turned down by JDT there really is nowhere else to go but Ferguson, Woodgate or the HSH scrapheap. We could end up there anyway all by design after a month of the usual smoke and mirrors. 2

The whole process has been a shambles, many of us predicted it, this is more amateur hour courtesy of our wonderful owners and the dross they employ. We’ll go to games of course, but to buy season tickets for us, shows support for Waggott and support for the owners. No Nay Never. Edited June 12, 2022 by Gav 1
Blue&WhiteArmy Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 JDT is honestly much better than I was expecting after missing out on some of the other names. I’ll be backing him 100%. 6
Popular Post Mercer Posted June 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2022 IMO, Rovers have been dumbing down in their personnel for years. Tom Finn must be mid sixties by now but I'd take him back in a heartbeat. IMO, Tom Finn's forgotten more than the likes of Waggott, Cheston, Fielder etc have ever known. I think Waggott is in his late sixties now and I think it's time he and Cheston were booted off the gravy train - IMO, neither have the drive, hunger or nous to add value to our club. As for our Commericial / Marketing department, I don't think it's ever been great, even under Williams and Finn, when benchmarking against what other clubs achieve, however, I think we've now plumbed new depths and are at an all time low in ability there. At the end of the day, you scrimp on key appointment like CEO, FD, Head Of Commercial etc and you pay a huge, huge price and, IMO, we see this with the club's very much below par executive management as seen with the managerial recruitment process, sponsorship and commerical deals, ticket strategy / pricing etc. Invest in quality staff at a cost of a few hundred grand more (which is chicken shit in comparison to the cost of some of the dross masquerading as footballers) and you get huge multiple paybacks in revenue streams etc. Broughton may prove to be an inspired choice as DOF but I think it's most likely he wasn't first choice and a late, and probably cheap, appointment. The lad will be on one mightily steep learning curve and for the sake of our club, I hope he swims rather than drowns. Whilst we continue to employ the likes of Waggott, Cheston, Fielder, Lowe, Benson etc, I think we will continue in failing to move forward as a club. IMO. under a new Jack Walker style ownership, not many of existing incumbents would remain in post. 11
imy9 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 JDT is a bit left field but he was managing a Champions league team last season and beat Rangers to get there. I must say I’m intrigued and a lot more excited than the usual suspects. I think the job he did at Malmo was excellent. Also getting a DoF is hardly a sign of cost cutting and at least shows some semblance of a plan being put into place. we are always one step away from disaster with Venkys but it’s always the hope that kills you! 5
islander200 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 Wonder if JDT will put on the back burner now. My source is telling me that Balaji has a private jet on stand by for Pochettino to fly to Pune for talks once his departure from PSG is confirmed 1

Popular Post Miller11 Posted June 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 12, 2022 (edited) Don’t tell people off on here who haven’t renewed their season tickets for whatever reason. The fact they are still coming on BRFCS and getting angry shows they still give a toss. It’s much more productive having a word with someone you know who has totally disengaged. I’m sure we all know people who fall into that bracket. These are the people it’s really difficult to get back. Maybe it’s the comparatively high single ticket prices compared to a season ticket, maybe they realise they don’t miss it that much, but when people say they are giving up their season tickets and they will pick and choose their games, they generally just stop going. My Dad is a prime example of this. Despite hitting pensioner age last season he’d had enough. The only games he went to were 4 on my ticket I couldn’t attend due to a holiday, work commitments and Covid, plus one tenner deal around Christmas. It’d have been zero if I’d been able to make them all and it hadn’t been his Grandson’s first ever game. Whingeing at someone you only know from a messageboard will only get their back up. Have a chat with someone you know on a personal level, see what is keeping them from coming back - if you want to let me know I’ll report it on to the club as part of some ongoing work I’m doing with the Trust. I’ve heard from fans who’ve given up Rovers for golf, caravans, fishing, sessions in the pub. Many of these wouldn’t have a clue what our first 11 looks like anymore… people who have clocked up thousands of miles over years and years have stopped caring. Trying to get them to care again would be really useful, criticising and sermonising to people on here does no good at all. Edited June 12, 2022 by Miller11 29
