Flippin eck! Not knowing much about him other than what's been said in here... I've Just been watching a few clips and interviews of Gareth Ainsworth

And my first thought was... Really 😬😬! I mean I'll take peoples words for it on here if they say he's actually better than he appears. But really😬

He just doesn't look or come across as a championship and above level character or manager and hearing him talk about tactics etc.. He sounds very amature, almost semi-pro!

as for his "look" bloody hell, looks like a retired porn actor from the early 00s

Hope I'm wrong on all acounts though if he does get the job.

He doesn’t look like your average football manager, granted.

Someone on here described him as a , “Fancy Dan”, the other day.

I think that’s wide of the mark. He’s in a rock band, so that explains the way he presents.

What he has is enthusiasm and charisma. As for being an “amateur”, I think his managerial record at Wycombe suggests otherwise.

I would take Farke over him, because of his recent track record in the Championship.

However, he would be right up there for me, out of the managers we could realistically hope to appoint.

Some of the names being mentioned fill me with dread.

Our current manager publicly stated he doesn't believe in formations.

And doesn’t practice corners in training.

Dream world, Farke is appointed and the day after he announces he’s convinced the 3 out of contracts to stay.

sorry, just woke up, what’s happening?

Think you have just woke up as there's not a cat in hells chance of Rothwell renewing!

Reckon if we did get a decent manager ala Farke quickly, then Lenihan could be persuaded.

A while ago I suggested that the reason Lenihan, Rothwell and Nyambe were leaving was because the Club and owners had done nothing to keep them. That the situation had been allowed to drift by silent owners and that whatever offers were put to them, if any, were derisory.

I was shot down for that suggestion, accused of creating conspiracy theories and that because Mowbray and Waggott had said that 'improved' offers had been made to these players that we should believe them and that it was actually money motivated players and their agents that were the only issues here.

And now we see our manager publicly admitting that he has had absolutely no communication from the owners or their representative on his future, his contract and that he hasn't spoken properly to the owners for a long time, save for a 'best of luck' message from Balaji recently.

I'm afraid Mowbray's comments this week, and the continuing silence from the Club, only support my 'conspiracy theory' that the owners have turned the phone and taps off and have left the club to drift over the last couple of seasons. That is the reason key players are out of contract and our manager seems to be off, not because they've told him this or they want to make a change, but because it is just silence.

Travis and Kaminski contract extensions?

On the out of contract three, personally don’t think any of them are premier league quality , if they can get a West Brom or that ilk to give them more money then fair play to them. Not unduly concerned about any of them going but for the fact it will cost a lot more to replace them which is probably money we don’t have. Out of the three if I could get one to stay it would be lenihan yet he is probably the one furthest away from prem quality , go figure.

The club has had plenty of national credit for its steps in 'integration' with things such as the Eid on the pitch the other day.

Waggott found time in his busy schedule to turn up for that, meet everyone and give interviews and his thoughts on how great it was and how we are the first Club to do such a thing.

Well done, pats on the back.

Yet he's stayed absolutely silent for months on the far greater issue of the Club's future direction and management situation, even leaving Mowbray to deal with those questions himself between the Preston and Bournemouth games.

It is completely unacceptable. He is the CEO of the Football Club. It is his job to provide answers to important questions, clarity as to what is happening and show leadership.

He has certainly failed on those fronts. Good work has been done but this pales into insignificance when unwilling or unable to do the most important things. Time to resign.

Sure, but 100% the situation is also that he is either being kept in the complete dark by Venkys, or he has been directly ordered not to say a word. Not possible I think that he has important information he is free to share with the public but is just keeping silent for the heck of it.

Which is part of the problem. New CEO, new manager, whoever comes in behind the scenes will have to be signing a deal with the devil, just accept that they pick up a salary but ask no questions and have no requests of the owners. Aka nothing but bad news for the club.

Just a hunch

He's probably realised that no other club higher than us will guarantee him first team football....he probably will stay for a small pay rise.  People forget about his bang average performances throughout the last few years...

Get rid and sweep clean, Farke will know miles better players in Germany etc...

I think Ainsworth is a motivational bloke at lower levels but as soon as he is up against those with something about them he'll be found out. I'm also a little uncomfortable with somebody coming in who's such a huge Rovers fan. I feel he'd just be incredibly grateful to be here and it may silence his voice if things need to be told straight. Yes I want someone who respects our history as a club but I'm not sure he's the one. Primarily I want someone who is just going to win football matches.

Can know whoever he wants, Championship clubs going to find it very difficult to shop abroad following Brexit and the GBE rules. If they qualify, they're likely well above the level/budget (9 times out of 10).

The thing is, even managers who were lucky enough to have been given their first jobs in the upper echelons of the football pyramid were new to the job once.

You can’t just write someone off because no-one has yet given them a chance at a higher level.

Ainsworth is a far more worthy candidate than some of the jokers apparently in the running.

Some of those guys have been given their chance and are proven to be bobbins.

In the 2020/21 season Farke bought 9 players from Europe....🤷‍♂️  I think you've been swallowing Tescodon's bullshit for too long as to why we can can't purchase players....

Could see Carter and Wharton being our two main central defenders next season. Carter had a pretty decent loan spell at pompey unless we bring someone more experienced in. Not sure lenihan will stay, surely he can get more money at bigger club in the championship.

I didn't think Bell was Championship quality. A change of club and manager put paid to that.

Signed by Mowbray from Fleetwood where he played as a wing-back,  played in a back four by Mowbray.

Back to wing-back at Luton and looking a better player.

I think Bell got a really rough ride here. He wasn’t great but I didn’t think he was anywhere near as bad as he was made out to be.

Granted he did have the occasional horror show, but which defender during that time didn’t. It got to the point where he’d have to be flawless to get a 6/10 in most peoples eyes, and exceptional to get a 7.

He’s probably kicked on, but there’s probably a bit of “you don’t know what you’ve got til it’s gone” too. Same with Raya. I expect it will be the same with some of the others too, particularly Nyambe.

He certainly improved over his time here. Defensively he grew to be fairly reliable by the end, which he certainly wasn't to begin with, but his final ball was still appalling. He'll get much more protection the way that Luton way I suppose, so that might have something to do with it.

I still think the biggest issue with our fullbacks final ball is they have nobody to hit. The last striker we had who you could try and pick out with an early cross was Gestede.
