Blackburn v Grimsby Footage (16th October 1999)

Hi,

Hope you don't mind me posting this.

I'm trying to obtain footage of Rovers v Grimsby on 16th October 1999. The game was in Division One and ended in a 1-1 draw.

Our club produced highlights compilations for years, but unfortunately not in 1999/2000.

Hoping someone on here can help or will know someone who ay have the footage.

Yeah that was my first season ticket season and I’ve scoured the internet trying to find decent footage fo fans from that season but there is very little and all poor quality .

Still looking for this, did Rovers do a season compilation in 1999/2000 does anyone now? Our club produced videos then DVDs from 1989-2008.

Rovers didn't produce any kind of season review for that season. Was the only season not released between 89-90 & 02-03.

Every now and then some highlights/goals from that season pop up on YouTube.

I think that's the game Rovers had 2 players sent off, don't remember who possibly Short one of them...

I've been reading, ended 9v10. Short and Taylor for you and Richard Smith for us right at the end. Three red, two penalties and a disallowed winner in the last minute. Both managers kept quiet after the game for fear of saying something that would get in them in trouble with the FA.

Not like Tiny Taylor to get sent off. A real gentle giant, that was his weakness really.

Surely we didn't have Souness in charge at the time.

I'll never forget when he branded the referee as a clown. That was amazing.

I think it was Kidd or possibly Parkes

Was Brian Kidd, he lost his job a few weeks later after a dismal home defeat to QPR.

That season was absolutely brutal. 

At least the situation was sorted and we got the mighty Souness in to sort it out. What a great manoeuvre that was. 

I really do miss Blackburn Rovers F.C.

Yeah the QPR game was a shocker. When we were coming off I said to my son - “ Don’t worry about it, Kiddo won’t be here for the next game “. That was when Jack was running the show and you knew he would sort the job out.

The memory that is burned into my brain from that season was singing "Tony Parkes' Blue & White Army" with some guy yelling in between "Fuck Off Bryan Kidd!"

Back when the real Blackburn Rovers existed and things like having a shit manager were sorted out before it became a major issue.
