Paul Mellelieu Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Not seen this elsewhere, but we have a new Head Marketing, Fraser Read, on his way from Bournemouth. Quote

Mattyblue Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Now this is an area of the club that desperately needs a new broom. Years of neglect to turn around, so good luck! 7 Quote
G Somerset Rover Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Just checked the guys LinkedIn and he was just Marketing Manager at Bournemouth previously. Again, that’s a huge jump if he’s now heading up our department. 1 Quote

Upside Down Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Job #1: Sort out the totally obscene season ticket prices. 1 Quote

Good grief, talk about cup half empty, for Christ's sake give the new guys a chance, why question abilities if you don't know what their abilities are. not aimed at you J B but in general, all I see is some negativity. RevidgeBlue Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Greg Coar's been at the Club a very long time. Nice bloke and wish him all the best at Wigan but you'd have to say we've been lacking in this respect for some time. Be interesting to see if this change has a positive impact. Quote
tomphil Posted June 8, 2022 Posted June 8, 2022 Going to Wigan is an odd move surely that's just as tough a gig as in Blackburn. Quote
Backroom Mike E Posted June 8, 2022 Backroom Posted June 8, 2022 (edited) Best thing we could do is get rid of Greg 'but we've already tried that' Coar. No, we HAVEN'T already tried a damned thing if you're half-arsing it at every step. Edited June 8, 2022 by Mike E Quote
OldEwoodBlue Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 All pointless. Until Venkys have left a good 10,000 won't be bothering even raising an eyebrow. 3 Quote
Ossydave Posted June 9, 2022 Posted June 9, 2022 I'd be interested to know what our marketing budget for the season is (if there is one 🤔) Greg Coar seemed to be the 'mastermind' behind the bundles we tend to wheel out to little success every season, wonder if there'll be something different now. arbitro Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 Another great idea from a club below us. Clearing out old stock whilst bringing money in. *Not strictly marketing but the nearest to it I can find. 1 Quote
matt83 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 The most surprising thing about reading we have a new head of marketing is the fact we apparently already had one. This Greg Coar must have been utterly useless. 1 Quote

The budget for STs, I.e the biggest income for the club outside TV, seems to have consisted of a leaflet to existing ST holders and a few weekly Twitter/Facebook posts by an already employed social media officer. windymiller7 Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 I hope this fella doesn't share the same views as our Head of Commercial, if he does, we're well & truly screwed! Quote
JHRover Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 I think there is a considerable difference between a Marketing Manager / Head of Marketing and a Commercial Director. We haven't had a Commercial Director since Dave Biggar resigned some 6-7 years ago. That is the real issue and problem here. Marketing managers and the like - Greg Coar and co. - have a much smaller remit and in my humble opinion this is a central reason why our sponsorship and commercial performance has been so poor. blondie Posted June 12, 2022 Posted June 12, 2022 My experience of Greg Coar was he simply wasn't up to it. Quote

I would get it if we were a multi-billion pound multinational organisation, but our marketing operation really won't be that big. It's also surely no more of a jump than from the standard marketing role to marketing manager. Quote
