Personally, I don't think there is more competition in the Belgian league, than in the scottish prem. It is usual for both leagues to be two-horse, races. Anderlecht finished third, twice.

Part of that is he came through their youth team, became a professional there, then went back after his time in England.

Broughton clearly rates Nyambe, and if Tomasson prefers playing a 4-4-2, I can’t see many better options out there. Obviously Mowbray never fully backed him and the contract offer reflected that.

If he does stay it would suggest we’ve allowed the new guys to improve the offer, and that we are paying him at or near the going rate. If he ends up at a club on a similar footing to us, like Lenihan with Boro, there’ll be the start of faint alarm bells.

I can't imagine that 4-4-2 would suit our best player in Dack so I would be surprised if he goes down that route, but it seems like Tomasson likes to change between various formations.

On Nyambe, I don't think he would be as difficult to replace as Lenihan, but it would be a huge benefit if we can get him signed up for the long term, especially considering that he is only 24. If he was on a free from elsewhere, we would consider Nyambe to be an incredibly shrewd signing if we signed him. I just hope that the gap to appointing the Broughton/Tomasson and also seemingly the days since with no contact aren't critical in his future.

At games TM hardly had a word said against him for five years, so I’m pretty sure JDL will get a decently sized Honeymoon period!

But bu bu he smiled, crossed two fingers and blinked two times as he said it so it means he doesn't mean it and is in fact replacing Waggott while he's at it, it's nothing more than a subtle bit of successive planning absolutely teasing us supporters so we can no longer resist the urge to purchase the overpriced season tickets on offer.

Very impressed by JDT's comments today. He speaks so well and with such authority with his comments and answer. 

Genuine excited by this appointment now and how we will play under him.

Wonder if they are just hands off these days?

They just left Mowbray to run his contract down, no intention of sacking him despite taking us on a horrific run at the end of the last 2 seasons.

Wouldn't be surprised if they just have discussions about budgets and leave the rest to "implement their vision".

Basically means JDT could be horrific and they wouldn't sack him, though.

As far as we're used to things over the last six years, it suggests the end of wide forwards.

I thought he said 3 in the middle which I took as 3 centre midfielders. 

I think he will play 4-2-3-1 formation as its suits the playing squad

Blackburn will play Burnley next season. How aware of that derby are you and what it means?

The excitement is palpable in that we 100% needed a new figure and a change of direction.

That being said, in his first couple of years, many were eating out of Mowbray's hand, how honest and passionate he came across, when he was behind the pictures around the training ground, the soldiers and artists rhetoric, the open meeting and his growing up on the terraces at Boro narrative.

It is good though to see a change of face and it adds some excitement ahead of the new season.

Very intentional words from JDT. He knows what has come before. I've seen a clip of him addressing the whole squad in the canteen too. Again his words seemed intentional and to the point. I actually watched it at lunch and I remember what he said now. The team is the most important thing. We need to have the absolute best team spirit in the league. 

I don't want to spend too much longer reflecting back to Mowbray. But anytime he was filmed giving a bit of a speech, he'd ramble on for 20 minutes and touch on 20 different subjects. This was reflected in his interviews as well. He'd contradict himself endlessly and you'd come away not having a clue what point he wanted to make. 

Half of management is being a top communicator and JDT is definitely that!

Isn't it refreshing to feel like we've got people in place who have a plan and know what they're doing. I have a lot more faith in our new DoF and manager than old school Mowbray and Waggot. I know the latter is still here but he won't be involved in football matters. 

It may not work out but this new era feels like the right approach.
