neophox Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) I think the 6 months JDT has been away from Football means alot and he will be refreshed and ready for the challenge! He seems eager to start having a proper pre season! Edited June 16, 2022 by neophox 1 Quote

How was Myers on the gravy train but the current incumbents aren't? If the owners had wised up we would have had more sensible pricing on season tickets and wouldn't be on the cusp of embarrassment. We've been so far beyond the cusp for twelve years we have circled back around and are on the cusp once again. 1 Quote
Backroom Popular Post Mike E Posted June 16, 2022 Backroom Popular Post Posted June 16, 2022 Mrs E fancies him now 🤣 last time I heard her react like that to someone, she'd just seen Daniel Craig walk out of the sea in Casino Royale! 11 Quote

Why would you not put those videos on YouTube for free? The level of complete ineptitude on display at this club never fails to astound me. 3 Quote

They are still inaccessible unless you go through a signing up process. Putting them up so they were readily available without having to go through some rigmarole would massively increase fan engagement. Just like the season ticket fiasco something really basic has been totally fucked up by total morons. 1 Quote

Not a fuck up from their perspective though, they obviously want to drive membership of Rovers TV, even if free to start with, they can then push an upgraded membership once they have your details, and there’s no better way than when the fanbase is excited about a new manager and want to hear him. 3 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Add my Mrs who is another fan of his. Showed her a brief video of him and she said "45, wow he looks younger than you". I'm not 40 yet 😐 5 Quote
Popular Post RoverDom Posted June 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 16, 2022 Finally got round to watching his full interview. By the end I noticed I was watching with a smile on my face. He's saying all the right things and has the right attitude. It's probably the first appointment under venkys where there's a genuinely positive feeling around it. Lambert is probably the only other appointment that felt good at the time but that didn't feel anywhere near as positive as this. He's a young largely untested coach so of course it might not work out but if it doesn't I don't think it will be through lack of trying or effort. I'd take a midbtable mediocre season this year if we're genuinely building to something 12 Quote

Just like it wouldn’t happen at other local clubs, ergo reduced prices. The part of that post I most agree with though Paul, is the terrible timing of the price hike. They were expensive to start with and we had no manager at all throughout the first phase, so obviously no momentum for sales is going to build there. And literally the week JDT arrives they hike the prices even higher, snuffing out another chance for a big spike in sales. Just basic common sense is missing down there. And I think they know they’ve dropped a bollock as even with the appointment they have been much quieter promoting STs since his appointment than before. Even the LT thinks so! As critical of season ticket prices as it ever gets! Quote
CD_93 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Also reassuring that Waggott isn't JDT's first point of contact. I'm just as excited about Broughton's appointment. Fresh blood building something new. 6 Quote

Fresh blood building something new. I wonder if the football side of it will almost completely bypass Waggot now ? Manager DoF Suhail Owners That kind of thing ? Maybe he can devote his time to sorting out pricing although the thought of him twiddling his thumbs isn't good. There'll be more cuts, price rises and building schemes being hatched. 1 Quote
TimmyJimmy Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 The good news is that we now have football people at the helm, Maggott, Pasha and who the hell else was sticking their nose in are sidelined. Broughton has got to be a sensible new start, a qualified bona fide real football guy not a pen pusher. I think the Maggott posse got totally lost in the recruitment process. Broughton turns up and says he knows just the chap, left field, scratch head, "Oh OK, go on then". Joke process but if Broughton did say FO and grabbed the reigns then that augers well for the future and player recruitment. Feels like we've kind of got our Williams back, someone who's actually grabbed hold of the steering wheel, so it feels good to me and hopefully we are back to being a 'football' club. JDT is untested at our level but he at least talks the talk. Undoubtedly he sees us as a stepping stone to bigger appointments but he'll have to succeed here first for that to happen so I'm OK if this turns out to be short term. Strikes me as similar to Mauricio Pochettino's first toe in the water when he stumped up at Southampton. Also seriously impressed with his number two. The threadbare squad is his elephant in the room. If cash is available and we don't lose any more players eg BBD then I think we'll get some exciting players on board. If there's no cash or we lose more players then we can write off the coming season as the juniors aren't ready yet, no where near ready. My guess is no extra money and a BBD sale in which case JDT is in for a very bumpy ride in his first year. All speculation at this stage but I'm definitely encouraged by recent turn of events. Tickets are pricey but what the hell, look at the price of beer these days! See you down there. 2 Quote

Mattyblue Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 This club ay, only place you would ever hear ‘performance over wins’ from executives (and some managers). Luckily we have a proper winner as manager now and you won’t be hearing it from him, I’d wager… Quote

Armchair supporter supremo Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 (edited) Gregg Broughton says he thinks it could take a couple of transfer windows to get the team right! I think that in itself is pretty bloody ambitious!! 🤞🤞 Edited June 16, 2022 by Armchair supporter supremo 1 Quote
Cordoba Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 If you have 10 mins, the full GB interview on RoversTV is well worth watching. So refreshing to have someone within senior management at the club communicating with the fans about football decisions and vision for the club. Loving the fact we have 2 young and ambitious guys in GB and JDT at the helm. Hopefully exciting times ahead 9 Quote
JHRover Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 My biggest concern is that the money people in India have either turned off the taps completely or down to a trickle, and it is because of this 'hand washing' that someone lower down the chain - Pasha probably - has the freedom to implement his own 'vision' for the club which we are seeing now. This can be good and bad. On the good side hopefully it will mean a more conventional setup with proper people running things but on the bad side it is likely to be an extremely limited budget - I just cannot see India throwing money at this without the manager persuading Desai to go with it. The transfer and contract activity of the last 18-24 months would suggest taps are off. Couple with the fact that Mowbray was shunned and left to run his contract down with no communication from India and that we did next to nothing in January to try and keep hold of our top 2 position all points to one thing to me - that the real power brokers here have gone dormant and aren't putting the extra money in. Time will tell I suppose. Ideally this new structure is the result of joined up thinking and a new phase with India backing those on the ground to get the job done but I've been burned with this before so will hold my horses on that.
