I’m also intrigued as to how someone can be on a club’s shortlist but also have gone under the radar.

Up to now, the former Newcastle and AC Milan forward has stayed under the radar of football’s elite clubs despite his successful career as a player (Football Insider).

Agreed. The above is the relevant sentence, which is also daft. It's common knowledge that a successful player doesn't necessarily become a successful manager.

Don't know if JDT is the type to commit professional suicide.

I'm not suggesting that he would definitely take it, (if offered), but I do remember posts on here 12 months ago, (not from yourself), claiming that Burnley were a basket case who were likely to suffer successive relegations.

I like JDT, he did alright this season but I'm not sure I would take a punt on him at a bigger club yet. I find the links etc premature as we started well, and then dropped off dramatically at the end of the season. I'm surprised Leeds etc are interested and would have thought a manager who had a promotion or more experience would be their priority.

does each player have a plaque for their cars to be parked?

For me, as a JDT fan it's been a relief to see the speculation around his future die down. Feyernoord and he was gone.

We're now faced with Leicester and Leeds being the only other clubs who had rumoured interest.

He doesn't feature anywhere in the odds for the Leicester job, leaving only Leeds. Given the clear lack of a plan, combustible owners and the news around the owners trying to use their stadium to fund a loan to purchase Sampdoria, I'm not sure they are an attractive proposition for any manager.

JDT strikes me as a smart guy. Make no mistake, if the right job comes up, he will leave as he's ambitious. But I'd be hopeful he'd turn them down. Reputationally there is a lot to lose by moving there, and I could see him biding his time and waiting for the right offer.

In that time, hopefully he'll have helped us progress further. If we improve on this season but fail to win promotion I can't see him being with us past next summer, but I'd be pleased that he'd have set the proper groundwork for the next coach to come in and improve upon.

Leeds are in mess right now. Ownership problems, no director of football and the sorting out the playing squad.

We've had ownership problems for 13 years now. We had no director of football until recently.

Leeds could probably offer JDT:

A higher salary

A better playing squad

A decent transfer budget

A realistic shot at automatic promotion

It's all down to whether JDT decides to carry on building what he's started here (although with no actual funds to do so) or jump ship for a better chance at becoming a premier league manager.

the ownership is set to change with minority shareholders 49ers looking to take over the club in ownership of Leeds so nothing like what gone on here. Plus their plans might be very different and I read in the Athletic that they were behind the move to bring in Sam Allardyce for the last 4 games and how long will a takeover take I wonder to happen.

JDT is a head coach not a manager. He works with a director of football which Leeds couldn't don't have and pre-season training starts in about 3 weeks time

on the playing squad, needs massive changes to it and players will leave. Similar to Leicester and Southampton aswell

If that takeover happens they will have plenty of cash (would be around the 10th richest owners in the premier League, apparently). You never know, they might bring in a DoF setup.

The main point is, that Leeds could easily offer more than us, if the takeover happens probably even more then they can currently.

The in-tray for the new Leeds boss:

- sick note Bamford

- sell the best players if you can

- nobody you want rid of and has the market value of half eaten bag of chips has an immediately expiring contract so you are well and truly lumbered with dross taking the wages and running down their time with you

- try to manage a dressing room of cut price wages new players you manage to sign playing alongside 6m a year Jack Harrison

- two shell shocked confidence destroyed keepers on ridiculous wages

- the ground is in hock to try to buy Sampdoria

- the ownership is extremely uncertain and you had better found out which agent is in the ear of the 49ers.

- fans are loud mouthed with a sense of entitlement

- Bielsa was deemed to have failed

But they aren't in the PL anymore but the have massive problems to sort out there including playing squad with some good players to leave, Players needed in, what planning has gone into signings, no DoF which JDT works with.

They have Director of Football until they sacked him and Garcia cos he still backed him in.

No there are spots for Lowe, Benson, Johnson, Gregg Broughton, 3 Directors spaces and Ben Rosen

Yes, I know they are not in the premier league anymore it was merely a comparison of where their potential new owners would sit with regards to wealth, which I read in an article a couple of months ago (when they were in the prem). I don't have a comparison for the championship but it's irrelevant anyway, the point is that they would be backed by wealthy owners, who are likely to have a strong desire to bounce back to the prem at the first time of asking.

They could easily appoint a new DoF and then JDT (or the other way around, makes no difference). He joined us and had to play catch up, it would be a lot easier to do that with a big transfer kitty.

Playing squad will need some work no doubts but that's the same for most teams that are relegated.

They won't need ownership money as they have assets to sell and got parachute payments. You don't appoint a head coach before a DoF as the DoF need to be the person who appoint him

#Anyway I think Scott Parker or Carlos Corberan will be appoint there

Well we’d better hope whoever they appoint doesn’t want JDT because, whilst we don’t want him to leave at all, the worst thing possible is for him to go in several weeks time.

Tottenham haven’t appointed a new DoF yet… so how come they are just about to announce the Celtic fella as their new manager?

I think I read Spuds are getting the Celtic DoF as well.

They will be feeling a relief they are already out of Europe and don't need to go through the formalities of getting knocked out.

Wouldn't use them as an example of how to be successful

JDT currently 5th favourite for the Celtic job (10/1). Nice to have our manager actually doing a job that means he gets linked with other clubs for a change.

Only Maresca, Rodgers, Knudsen and Moyes shorter in the betting.

I can't see them going for JDT with some of the other names on the list.

Mowbray and Allardyce at 100/1.

it crossed my mind that JDT might come into the reckoning for Celtic.

Mowbray at 100 - 1 are ridiculously short odds. . He was terrible their first time around.
