He strikes me as being honourable but being misled and going public about it isn't a good sign. His stock is high in the game so I don't believe he would hesitate to resign and spend a period unemployed. In my view he is edging towards his personal tipping point.

Agree. He seems to be honest and trying to be transparent. It's admirable. Not many "coaches" would do the same. Just wish someone would offer some clarity over what the "project" was and what it is now

What I take from that is JDT is not happy with the situation, but never says he is leaving. Why would he leave a well paid prestigious job, for unemployment ? Some people liken JDTs position to Lamberts, look what happened to Lambert after he left us.

If you can leave a 2 time Championship winning team (Malmo) for unemployment then you can easily leave a mid-table, financial threatened team.

Do I think he should? No. He is part of this team. He signed the contract and he needs to knuckle down and get on with it. If he isn't giving 100% then the team wont. I do, however, think he will give everything and hope we, the club, can turn it around and really back him.

Did JDT walk away from his contract at Malmo or leave at the end of his contract?

I don't know, but it might give an indication of what he may do at Rovers

If JDT walks he gets nothing but love,  respect and admiration from me for the Job he’s done with these kids last season , for his honesty, and for the self respect he has. God I’ll miss that cheeky grin 😂

I could draw up a shortlist right now of managers to replace Tomasson. But how many would come here and join the circus? It's pie in the sky despite what Broughton says. Has he already approached these people, will they come, are they currently employed and will we have to pay compensation (lol)? It's another blag from GreggI think. Should it happen my money is on another jobber who has no professional pride, takes and job and puts up with the crap going on around him.

I think many managers would look at the way we are mismanaged and conclude that the job is impossible and could only damage their career. We will find it progressively harder to attract a quality manager.

Not 100% sure but Malmo's Sporting Director said "Jon has announced that he wants to leave MFF and after discussions we have decided by mutual agreement to part ways.". There may have been a 2yr contract with an option to extend or maybe he left before the end of his contract if it was decided by mutual agreement.

The "project" is the same as it has been since venkys turned up. Get the club in the Championship and keep it there at all costs.

Last January and this summer are evidence of this. We've a good manager who, with the help of a couple of decent signings, could easily get us in the play-offs and highly likely promoted.

Do the club back him? No.

The Lewis O'Brien deal that was "mistakingly" fucked up in January.

Now this summer, the budget gets slashed out of the blue.

I'm amazed that JDT is still here.

It's the way that managers are misled that I believe causes them frustration. And that particular buck stops directly at the owners door. No marks like Coyle and Kean would put up with it. Managers with integrity won't.

Even Kean had enough and left.

He's basically just confirming they can't spend unless there is an influx of cash from somewhere due to FFP.

That we already knew and the chances of owner input covering that even if it wasn't cut were slim to non.

Contracts generally work in that if one side or the other breaches it (for example, cancels it with no reasonable grounds), they have to pay the other side. This is largely why no manager ever resigns. Unless they can come to an amicable agreement with the club, they have to pay up their own contract (either from their own money or from the money of another club wanting to take them on).

Steve Kean never had enough of his contract. His Mickey Mouse posts since leaving Rovers tells you all you need to know about the level of earnings he should be on. Rovers was, of course, well-above his pay-grade.

Kean went from the dole to BRFC bibs and cones man on probably 40k a year thanks to Allardyce and probably someone at the club doing Anderson a favour.

He then rapidly went from that to a 2.5 million pound a year Prem manager.

If that doesn't tell the whole stinking story nothing does.

And that's before you remember those dodgy clauses in his employment contract (bonus for relegation / etc).

The man is an absolute crook and the fact that he's hopped from crap job to crap job in far reaches of the globe since we removed his grubby stain from the club speaks volumes.

My opinion is that he’s going to leave on the back of his comments. ‘Reading between the lines’ and all that.

I don't think he's far away.

I think he was honest but chose his words carefully in his interview though. By saying he was in the dark, he avoided naming names, whilst making it very clear that he wasn't happy.

It didn't make his position untenable in the eyes of owners or directors. I interpreted as a clear demand for backing and the club to sort the mess out ASAP. Turning the pressure up a bit.

He still obviously has the services of some slimy agents judging by the gigs he keeps getting.

Nobody in England has touched him yet though which i agree speaks volumes.

Not really, he sued for constructive dismissal and Venkys paid up. That man had no shame and would have stayed forever.

The story goes that the autonomy he had bestowed upon him by Anderson (and sanctioned by the idiots) was eroded by Shebby Singh. He cited interference by Singh in his constructive dismissal case.

His last two jobs he got through his dodgy Celtic boys club connections (Australia and Hibs)

He was on a basic salary of £1m for the 11/12 season, which dropped to £600k per annum in 12/13 after being relegated.

Still not a bad number.

You've missed the bonuses they added which basically doubled it and were still payable after relegation i believe.

The bonuses were:

£200,000 if the club finished in the top 12 - failed in 11/12

£200,000 if the club qualified for the Europa League - failed in 11/12

£200,000 if the club qualified for the Champions League group stages by finishing in the top 4 - failed in 11/12

£100,000 if they won the FA Cup - failed in 11/12

£100,000 if they won the League Cup - failed in 11/12

£1,611,000 - for the 13/14 season with no target attached and didn't specify which division we had to be in (he left in September 2012, so wouldn't have got that).

Wasn't there a "small" bonus for relegation?
