We all want promotion and to get back to where we belong in the PL. I am sure Waggott would loved promotion cos of the finances involved in it. "Our CEO (Steve Waggott) said a while ago that the expectation this season, first and foremost, is to stay in the league and develop players. “I understand Steve is realistic because the goal posts have been moved, but I am very ambitious and I want to win games as well. I know my lads are extremely ambitious and so are the fans. “We have very good players, but young players will make a couple of more mistakes than mature players who have played in the Premier League" https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23743852.blackburn-rovers-boss-tomasson-ambitious-young-squad/ This is good to see. JDT acknowledges SW comments but has his own agenda and some coaches wouldn't even bother saying the above. He speaks loud and clear about his intentions publicly which is honourable 2 Quote

Gav Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 It doesn't take a genus to read between the lines, we have an unhappy manager who was sold a club with ambition, that has once again very quickly gone bad. Its all the more galling because after he arrived as 4/5th choice, he does seem to have plenty about him, yet the owners aren't interested in the slightest and he will walk, I have no doubt about that. We have a number of posters who defend Venkys to the hilt, blaming everyone else for the clubs failings. I don't believe they do this because they think they're great owners, but because they think we have no other options. If JDT does walk, will those same posters continue to support the owners? 5 Quote

philipl Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 I am 100% a JDT fan- absolutely the best boss for Rovers since Sparky- perhaps even better. I've called bs on the two reasons given for cash go-slow. Something has happened behind the scenes but it is stark raving bonkers not to be backing the GB/JDT team to the FFP limit this window when automatic promotion is clearly on for Rovers. 9 Quote
roversfan99 Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 He definitely is a breath of fresh air and it would be gutting if our terrible (or within the top 10% in the country) owners left him to leave. But perhaps better than a manager who got us to 6th in the Premier League? Come on. 2 Quote

JDT is a gem. A super coach and an excellent personality to front our club. The Raos will never, ever, have a better chance with JDT at the reins to return to the promised land. Just feckin back him to the hilt. It's a no brainer. Edited August 27, 2023 by Mercer 7 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted August 27, 2023 Posted August 27, 2023 JDT is a breath of fresh air and the best manager/head coach we had since Mark Hughes. If he gets the 3 quality players he wants then I think he will get us top 6 and playoff place 4 Quote

Still unsure over his Morton Wharton decision last year and his choice in going for 5 at the back with 10mins to go when we seem to always then fluff it ie fa cup but he's obviously got his reasons and he is doing much better for the club than those silly decisions so I fully support him 3 Quote

Other than not having a hole to chuck 10-20 million a year into...... A reasonable explanation is they just aren't that bothered and those in the middle are sold on the idea this club should sit in the middle of the championship. On a low budget/spend/wage model producing players to sell, trying to wash its face whilst they earn 100s of thousands per year running the show. 5 Quote

Their frequent meddling in transfers and asking MGP for a reference tells me they are interested to some degree. So is it deliberate, incompetence or lack of interest? Most likely it's a combination of all three. The only way forward for Rovers is to be rid of them. That is certain. 1 Quote
Danishfan Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 Jon turns 47 today, wouldn´t it be great if Gregg and Wagott got him a couple of players for his birthday 😁🙏 6 Quote

martonrover Posted August 29, 2023 Posted August 29, 2023 Loving his references to the team coach in today’s LT interview. Clearly thinks Waggott’s a dick. 2 Quote

Popular Post ben_the_beast Posted August 31, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 31, 2023 Best manager since Souness. Posted in the Harrogate chat that some clear the air talks are needed during the international break. Highlight why the sudden changes happened this summer and if we're able to give reassurances that won't happen again, then give them. Then it's money on the table time. New big contract, double your money. If he wants a release clause then that can be negotiated in line with the pay rise. Make the man happy. The only asset as important as him is Adam Wharton. The way he talks, negotiates, brings young players on, has a clear identity to his football, has no favorites and his genuine positive aura has had an enormous impact. And the bloke works hard. You don't see many managers regularly going to u21s games, setting each players homework each week, going on mini scouting missions to watch a player we might be interested in. On top of that he speaks so highly of the club, our history and fans. He's an absolutely brilliant manager and such a huge asset to our club. 15 Quote
