I like jdt but if he has agreed to be Sweden manager whilst under contract and still demanded compensation that's a joke.

I disagree. He's been lied to and dealt a dud hand here. He's career focused and ambitious. Any job I do, if I'd had what was promised fail to transpire I'd have half an eye on my future as well.

He's a principled bloke and even though results have been poor, I think he's still been putting in the effort here. He definitely goes with my best wishes.

How can you possibly know that?

Has JDT resigned or been sacked ? Has he been offered the Sweden job? Any illegal approaches involved ?

All those questions would need to be answered before we can know if your statement is true.

That's what is being reported, sry I should have said reportedly .

There have been no reports that JDT is seeking compensation and that is the post I was responding too .

What else do you think the hold up could be then?

I was about to post something similar Jim but you've put it perfectly there.

I think all of us appreciated hearing someone within the club talk about ambition for once, that's why people are mainly upset about this one. The reality though is 10 wins in 40. He didn't get the best out of what he had and threw away countless points. We did sell key players but so have other teams (Hamer, Scott, Akpom for e.g.)

Whilst I appreciated his willingness to put the owners and Maggot to the sword, his job was to win games and pick up points. He started with a pragmatic & measured approach with sprinklings of excellent football which I think really suited us. Eventually he ended up with a crazy fantasy football ideology without the budget and players to pull it off and without the dignity to take it on the chin and switch tactics.

That isn't necessarily a criticism of just him but many other clubs outside of the top 8 of the prem who are trying to play the guardiola way, without the budget. In the championship you must get the best out of what you have and in the end... He didn't.

Great post Neal 👏

I for one am getting tired of this pound-shop Pep disease that's filtering through the lower leagues. I love watching it when it works, but how many times does it work realistically, and fans want to hope that they can trust the management team to change it to suit the game in front of them happening at that minute, not on the training pitch. Everyone else can see it, why can't they, and it just breeds frustration, and that's why fans boo.

I suppose the main concern is that these clubs want to play like this to develop players who can be selected by the Prem clubs to slot into their system, at the expense of the current club's plight. No one wants a right back who just hoofs it 30 yards. Thing is, I'm enjoying Luton, as they mix it up and show everyone else how it could be. I have a lot of admiration for them.

JDT’s reign had a few sliding door moments…

1) Starting at least one Wharton in the game at Turf Moor

2) Hedges shot hitting the post, crawling across the line and out at 2-1 in the FA Cup quarter final.

3) Hedges chip attempt at Deepdale

4) Szmodics half volley bouncing off the crossbar and down onto the line at home to Luton.

Edit: Maybe Hedges should be better at finishing 🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree with this, the margins at getting into the playoffs were crazy - even the disallowed goal at Cardiff that led to Hirst's missed pen, that was insane when you look back. But when a team's form is so hit and miss, these moments really stand out and gain extra importance, when really we should have put certain games to bed earlier on.

Tyler Morton shouldn't have gone down like a sack of shit against Sheff Utd, Wharton could have done better with the punt down field that led to Hyam's own goal, where do we stop.

Always someone else's fault with Venkys isn't it, yet there's only been one constant.

Some of you lot are a soft bunch.

I don't think anyone is absolving Venkys, just a bit more realism about how good a coach JDT actually is I suppose.

Just discussing the footballing side, everyone is agreement that the Venky's are the root cause. But they didn't tell Hedges to chip it to the North End keeper in this context.

Almost as though selling off all your best players and experience and not replacing them and using the academy kids has a direct impact on results.

And all the broken promises to JDT will have had a massive impact on his morale too regardless of professionalism.

And something like 1 win in the last 11 last season (the last game) so roughly 10 in 40

He was forced to play academy players nowhere near ready, he was forced to play players not up to the Championship standard, injuries have hit us massively. Look what he did in his first season before funding was pulled and several players walked for free and were not replaced.

He will go on to bigger and better things, its clear he has something special about him as a manager.

Blimey, there's some dewy-eyed romantic view of the Tomasson era on here when the reality is he's left the club in the middle of a relegation fight after a calamitous sequence of results. Ambition and optimism and a good personality are fine qualities but a coach also has to know to organise a defence properly and set up a team not to give away soft goals. Tomasson was a busted flush IMO, canny Championship managers had him and Rovers worked out in the second half of last season

All ifs buts and maybes but I honestly believe if Gregg had signed him O’Brien and a striker we’d be in the premier league now. We were playing the best football in the league back end of last season and just couldn’t stick the ball in the net. No proof of that, just a gut feel. Best finish since 2012 and Tyler Morton/Pears cost us a trip to an FA cup semi final. Let’s not rewrite history due to the clubs incompetency, that’s exactly what they want us to do.

the inability to turn around results either in game

was affected by the choices available to him on the bench which, in turn was related to the strength and numbers of the squad.

The reality though is 10 wins in 40 and the goals against column doesn't lie. He didn't get the best out of what he had and threw away countless points. We did sell key players but so have other teams (Hamer, Gyokeres, Scott, Akpom for e.g.)

In the championship you must get the best out of what you have and in the end... He didn't. With that said, as much as he wants to point at the finger at the lack of signings, it was the injuries that hurt him more. Those are proven championship players and you have no guarantees new signings will perform to the standards he wanted.

It's a failed project unfortunately. No one is wrong in this instance for feeling the way they do, missed opportunity or relieved he's gone. We can all see the positives and negatives for ourselves.

Difference is; all of those players’ transfer funds were reinvested. Coventry have spent nearly £25million this season. Boro have spent circa £10million.

My thoughts on Allardyce are well documented, but I'd have him in right now, he's perfect for the shit we are in.

I understand the problems people have with him, but I can't bring myself to judge him on this season. He's operating under a team of lunatics who have assembled an incapable squad. Then we have absent owners wanting a certain kind of football, interfering with recruitment, and having the club set up as some kind of development agency. And all with a lack of monetary support.

It'll happen again and again whoever is in charge. I'll be pleasantly surprised if Eustace or whoever can circumvent the absolute clown show that is BRFC.

No one is denying the root cause of it all. It would have been great if Tomasson has been backed properly by the owners as he was led to believe. But that doesn't change the fact he had failings as a coach, and he's left us in a dire situation

In the end, it's been 2 painful seasons under him. The bad luck we suffered at the end of the last season in just missing the playoffs still hurts while this season has, let's be honest, absolute agony and could get worse

No one is denying that are they? Look at other teams who have sold players, doesn't make you immediately the  defence in the league etc. Just purely looking at the games on their own, we've seen us compete with this team, and then throw things away due to bizarre "in-game management" (hate that term but you know what I mean'. We've also seen us compete and then get blown away in the 2nd half due to the opposition actually have a bench, which is down to the ownership and the leadership.

It isn't black and white, it's combination of a few factors. i'd say every fan was in agreement of the following:

  • We all admire JDT and his ambition, his charisma and his honesty.
  • We all wished at times JDT would park his frustrations, and deflect and take pressure off the squad.
  • If you asset strip the squad of creativity and leadership, you reap what you sow.
  • You treat the manager and fans without care, you disrupt the dressing room and create a toxic atmosphere.
  • You try and play football not suited to the players you have at your disposal, you get what you deserve.

All these things contribute to the perfect storm.
