Trinidad Rover Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 We were awful, Reading were decent. Learn from it, move on. Oh, buy a left back too. 3 Quote

Torgeir Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Bodies needed. Don't see much of an improvement on Tony tbh. Depleted squad that needs strengthening. Quote
booth Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 We're missing Wharton. We need rid of Pickering. Vale should never ever start. We need another goalscorer. No idea what to do with that midfield. 1 Quote
Andy Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Once I've calmed down, I'll admit that Reading did a lot of things right tonight. But right now, I couldn't tell you the last time we were this atrocious. 1 Quote
Beanie01289 Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Pressed to death easy doors never recovered 3 Quote
Darrenbot Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 look at it this way,if we win 3 out of every 4 games we'll get promoted 1 Quote

Sweaty Gussets Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Wonder what the presser will be like. We've never seen him after a defeat. Quote

Wasn't getting carried away with our great start to the season but actually fancied a win tonight and a draw at worst. How wrong I was. 2 Quote

booth Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 The few times we've gone forward we've been trying outlandish passing instead of keeping it simple. Every time. Similar to defending, instead of getting the ball away we've tried to pass our way out of trouble. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted August 17, 2022 Backroom Posted August 17, 2022 Philips and Edun gone closest for us tonight; as bad as we’ve been at the back it shows we’ve been just as bad going forward Quote
Mr. E Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 My question tonight is the passing. Whatever the statistics show, it looked like 80% of our key passes were going wrong. Like the players had the wrong boots on or something. I cannot comprehend how the passing level dropped so, so dramatically, for everyone on the pitch? For no real reason either, Reading aren't doing all that much pressing. I don't understand. 1 Quote
simongarnerisgod Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 no doubt sundays game took it`s toll,we are leggy as ****,jdt has messed up on this one though, completely wrong team shape, onwards on upwards though,i think he`ll adjust for saturday and beyond, incidentally west brom ar`nt fairing much better than us,they are being held by cardiff at home 1 Quote
LDRover Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 The test was always going to be how we'd react when the opposition worked us out. Looks like there's a lot of work to do on a Plan B and C. 1 Quote

Honest I imagine, seems an up front guy, collective responsibility. Won't slaughter the players but will say it wasn't good enough etc. 1 Quote
islander200 Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Even though Pickering was poor I can kind of understand why he was left on the pitch as injury to one of the centre halves and nobody to put in there. But why Buckley was left on is beyond me?Very very poor surely Morton could have come on with Buckley clearly not at the races. Phillips isnt ready yet. We need players in and I sympathize with JDT over our failure to make the squad stronger but still have to question wether it was necessary 5 games into the season to be resting Hedges and Gallagher after a 2-1 win a game Gallagher scored in 2 Quote
joey_big_nose Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Really poor performance all game. Terrible. That said tactically we struggled all game. We never got any sort of control in midfield - Buckley and Travis totally crowded out but we never game them any additional support. We definitely improved second half but never could be said to be in control of a spell of the game. The concern from me is how we respond, every team we play now will watch this game back and mimic how Reading setup and dominated us. Quote

How? Quote
