Ricky Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 Definitely got a Hoilett feeling about the contract situation here. 1 Quote

Sweaty Gussets Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 Blackburn Rovers' bid to keep hold of top Academy talent | Lancashire Telegraph Sharpe seems confident it's done. Quote

Interesting that and sounds very promising. Does anyone know what the new compensation rules are? Perhaps that’s a step in the right direction too. Quote

47er Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 Says he wants to sign and it'll be for 3 years. That means we'll be going through this all over again in 2 years time! As for predictive text, I wrote "he wants to sign" and it came out as"he wants tossing"! Spooky eh? 2 Quote
Upside Down Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 I'm sure most 17 year olds do. 🙃 3 Quote

Hopefully we re-enter negotiations once he turns 18 and we are allowed to offer more than 3 years. How difficult those negotiations are to do depends on many things between now and then. Quote

Its the coaching staff's job to ensure he's a regular and playing at his best by then so we come out of it well either way. A contract with a release clause in the multi-millions would be the best the club could get I'd imagine. Easy to say! Quote
Popular Post Miller11 Posted September 20, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 20, 2022 (edited) He’s signed!! Fair play to Gregg Broughton, he’s obviously addressing the issue we’ve had around rewarding our academy graduates properly and signing them up in a timely manner. This is just the kind of strategic work we’ve needed someone to be implementing. Edited September 20, 2022 by Miller11 23 Quote
arbitro Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Great news. Thankfully his advisors have put him and his career first rather than chasing a quick buck. Quote
windymiller7 Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Superb! Great to see some proper work being done behind the scenes and sorting it before the horse has bolted. 1 Quote
Irish_Rover Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Delighted with the news! I was fairly consigned to him leaving, there was too much of the old Hoilett carry on and then Spurs sniffing around aswell. Fair play to lad for turning them down, the premiership team with much bigger salary draw couldn't have been easy to pass up. Looks like we are finally doing things right contract wise and getting lads tied down for at least a few years! Quote

Displaced Rover Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 This is superb news, should really help us down the line. Fair play to the club for getting it done. Quote
Beanie01289 Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 A bit of a stinging indictment of the last regime no forward planning Venus as director of football letting many players run down contracts while the manager at the time advised staff to leave instead of ensuring that they stayed to help the club. 6 Quote
