Upside Down Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 The return of Tony Mowbray!! What sort of reception will he get and what sort of reception will you give him? Adoration? Proposals of marriage? A mild applause? Boos? Whistles? Attempts on his life? Or just a mere shrug of the shoulders? I'm going to be optimistic and say we'll break our win-loss cycle with an emphatic 4-0 victory. And c'mon JDT, let's see Dack in the first 11. He's first rate and you know it. 1 Quote

1864roverite Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Tough game again but which Sunderland will turn up? Roberts is the danger so Harry P will have to be up for it Boro targeted him in the second half with Jones’s speed! No time for booing like the turds who booed Lenihan and who couldn’t even say his name right😅😅 1-0 1 Quote
BankEnd Rover Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 A big following to be expected from Sunderland so should be a good Atmosphere. Same team but with Buckley or Garrett to replace Travis. 1-1 Quote

Do think putting Mola on the bench and giving him 30 mins at LWB will be interesting. 5 Quote

There’s a player there, but he’s at risk of stagnation. 1 Quote
Popular Post tomphil Posted October 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2022 No need for any booing of Mowbray that would be classless but no need for a heroes reception either just concentrate on backing the team. Best way to make any statement is do that and get the win don't give him opportunity for any barbed digs. We were good for each other for a while he reset the club no doubt about that and Rovers pulled him off the scrap heap and gave him that opportunity and backing to reset himself. It went stale some time ago and was on the verge of going toxic although his transfer funds had all but dried up as well which didn't help. I'll always think there was a little bit more to all the behind the scenes stuff than we will ever get to know about but it's done now we've all moved on. Hopefully the game will reflect that and we'll send him and their hordes back up the road with nowt. 11 Quote
Mattyblue Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Will his flag be making a re-appearance? 2 Quote
Ossydave Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Tony will get a clap from me. We really need to break the W L W streak though, can't see any reason why we won't either. I can see a few goals here too 3-2 home win. 2 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 We need to break this W L streak now and beat Mowbray's Sunderland team. I would make 2 changes to the team with Carter in for Phillips and Buckley for Travis. 2 Quote
booth Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 I’d love it if Gallagher and Brereton scored. Then Dack came on to score a third. Young boys on a journey and all that. 1 Quote
Popular Post frosty Posted October 16, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 16, 2022 I don’t know why anybody would clap somebody who advised his own staff to leave the ‘little car’ that is Rovers for the ‘big tanker’ that is….*checks notes*….Sunderland! WL ends here, 1-0 Rovers. 11 Quote
Miller11 Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Gallagher absolutely must start centrally. This will completely baffle Mowbray who will hopefully have been telling his left back it’s his job to mark him. The silly sequence stops here I reckon. Comfortable three points. As for Mowbray, it’ll be complete indifference from me. It’s not like his name needs reading out like a player, and he’s no reason to parade himself on the pitch, so along with his usual habit of sitting on the bench looking bored he should be pretty easy to ignore. 8 Quote
USABlue Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Would have to say Rovers being Rovers we lose this one Tony being ex manager and all. Would love for Tomasson to give his side a beating. Imagine Mowbray being up for this one. 1 Quote

That tells me a lot about his attitude. He needs to smarten up. 3 Quote
Darrenbot Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 I wouldn't boo Mowbray but i also wouldn't clap him after some of the shit he's come out with since he's left the club, anyway here is where the W-L thing ends 2-0 to Rovers 2 Quote
arbitro Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 If people want to clap Mowbray it's entirely up to them. I certainly won't be doing. I was ambivalent towards him for most of his tenure here and that hasn't changed now he has gone. 3 Quote

Backroom Mike E Posted October 16, 2022 Backroom Posted October 16, 2022 Polite applause if he claps us. A bit like the oppo goalkeeper. Otherwise, meh. 1 Quote
davulsukur Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Formbook says a loss for us after winning yesterday but we are at home, so really need to get the 3 points at home. They came from behind to win yesterday, a rare occasion for Mowbray when he was here. Travis out leaves us light in midfield Quote
roverandout Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Mowbray can gtf. Hope we spank them. 4-0 1 Quote
Guest Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 Sunderland have swapped between a 4-2-3-1 and a 3-4-3 this season under TM. Hard to place what they'll do at Ewood. I think Tony will respect our home form and come to be solid. I'd probably stick with the 3/5 back and adjust if we need to. Especially given Travis is out. Kaminski Brittain Carter Hyam S. Wharton Pickering Morton Garrett A. Wharton Brereton Díaz Gallagher Really like Buckley, but I can't see him starting him. Would be nice to see Garrett given a chance and we need someone to provide the bite with no Travis. Quote
JamieUK Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 I'd go with JoeH's team but expecting Szmodics will come in for Travis and it will be a return of wide(r) strikers. Quote
WacoRover Posted October 16, 2022 Posted October 16, 2022 If I had to say there’s been a difference in TM’s and jdt’s Rovers, under jdt we haven’t conceded in added time. That was a big issue under Tony, as we regularly gave the opposition a gift in 90+3 or after. Rovers currently 5th on the table, and Sunderland 9th. Tony appears to have given some mid table stability to Sund, while jdt appears to have Rovers poised to make a serious playoff run (at last!) Rovers have 5 wins and two loses at home. Rovers have three clean sheets, and have scored 12 goals, while conceding six. On the negative side, our two losses at Ewood have been to Stoke & BristolC, no explanation for those. This game may be closer than we want to think, but Rovers need to win home games vs clubs lower on the table, if we are to be a serious playoff contending team. Travis’ loss not devastating, if a young player steps up, it should be negligible. I will say 2-1, good guys. 3 Quote
