I thought he'd done quite well, some tidy touches and hasn't done anything wrong. The wingback switch has worked really well first half, all credit when it's due. I think Carter looks more ready than Phillips at the moment (unsurprisingly, considering their ages). 4 Quote

WacoRover Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 (edited) One minute added. HT no gripes, I take back my earlier crabby sentiment about poor passing. Edited October 18, 2022 by WacoRover 1 Quote

neophox Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 What a strike from Brereton Diaz... world class. 1-0 ht. 3 Quote
booth Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Brilliant goal from Diaz but the team needs to do better when attacking. We need to kill the game off in the second half. Hedges foot kicked the ball then caught their player, no penalty. 2 Quote
joey_big_nose Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Good half. Very defensively solid. Final pass not great though, so I'd get Wharton on for Szmodics to help with that. 2 Quote
jim mk2 Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I'd take Garrett off, he's one young player too many in this team and he looks overawed by it. Brittain can play anywhere because he's a good footballer but left back isn't like right back and he gets his angles wrong. They've sent in some dangerous crosses from his side 3 Quote
Exiled in Toronto Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Brittain has absolutely monstered them first half 2 Quote
roverandout Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Brittain could easily be a premiership player next season with or without us Quote
Rover_in_the_South Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Well compared to the last few sky showings that was enjoyable. A good first half of footy that. We sometimes move that ball around really nicely, Brittain class again. 4 Quote
Dan Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Massive let off with the penalty decision. 🙈 Tommy K would have saved it anyway though 😂 Quote
jim mk2 Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 That was a Sunderland penalty.... we'd be screaming blue murder the other way round 1 Quote

magicalmortensleftpeg Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Brittain has been immense. Massive improvement on Nyambe who was hardly a weak link. Sami disc has done reasonably well, good movement and high energy. Can see what he brings over Dack although Dack is better with the ball at his feet. 4 Quote

We would be going ballistic if that sort of decision went against us. I think Mawson looks like he messed up to. Beware. Great great shot by BBD but otherwise a mundane half but we are ahead so who cares, not me. Edited October 18, 2022 by AllRoverAsia Quote

Dan Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 That goal gets better with every viewing. We’re like Tugay Rovers; we don’t score tap ins!! 2 Quote
Andy Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Just seen the bit of BBD's celebration - giving the Sunderland fans the 'shhh' and laughing at them. Good lad. 2 Quote
ben_the_beast Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Can see why the ref didn't give them the penalty shout. The direction of the ball suggested Hedges got a touch on it. The angle from behind the goal shows he didn't though and we got lucky. What a strike by Diaz though. Absolute quality. It's been quite an even half. Feel like Wharton has seen way too much of the ball. All our midfield 3 seem to favour being central or slightly to the right and its leaving him with only one outball in Brittain. Garrett has been decent but I'd like to see Adam Wharton on at half time. He'd drop into that space more naturally and give more balance. Touching on our summer recruitment. The two defensive players in Brittain and Hyam are fantastic. 1 Quote
ItsRoverZ Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 Sunderland 0 goals from set pieces Rovers won 8 out of 8 when scoring first Can we finally break the hoodoo of breaking teams bad stats for them Quote
Displaced Rover Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 There was contact from Hedges, Sunderland lad’s foot goes back, stops, then he throws himself on the floor. Zero sympathy Quote

He built this team, mumble, mumble, penalty, frustrating, mumble, mumble. 3 Quote
