One thing I will say is the argies keep going. Not like gareth's bottlejobs

I agree that they are diving cheats but can't fault their intensity, endeavour and committment.

Shearer just mentioning the ref - I thought he was great. He let a lot go but he kept 22 players on the pitch in what was a fiery game.

Which is actually playing into the hands of the Argies.

Nice one ref.

Not really.  England are just bottlers. I wouldn’t say Argentina have better players.  No way

Lionel Messi says hi.

If we played with that intensity against France instead of dropping off when they had the ball we'd probably be in the final.  One thing that irritates the hell out of me with Southgate is our lack of pressing

I think this proves u can win a major tournament without midfielders who control a game. De Paul and the others are pressing machines who cover every blade of grass.

Despite my opinion of Argentina I am pleased for Messi, a true great of the game and a pleasure to watch during his long career.

He's now got something that CR7 can never ever have.

it must be absolutely haunting him,his ego is bigger than jupiter🙂

I feel as disillusioned with football as I have ever been. Only oil money and billionaires win club football.  And with the success of Argentina, Italy, Portugal it seems mostly just lying, diving, cheating football wins international competitions. That's the true key to success.

What's the point?

diving and cheating have been going on since the dawn of the pro game, because football is on tv everwhere nowadays you see more of it

What a final. Glad France made a game of it but so pleased that Argentina were the winners in the end, some very bitter comments on here about Argentina being cheats you would think they were the only ones that do it.  I don’t like the French and in particular French presidents so tough on you Macron.
The referee was brilliant I thought that says plenty about how good ex pro footballers would make good refs.

It’s never great to lose on penalties but if it was England that had won, would we care

To be fair, every team has a piss easy run until the last 8 in World Cups due to the fodder padding out the groups.

Yes and will only get worse in 2026 with 48 teams.,

You have just seen one of the greatest football matches ever played but are disillusioned ?

Some odd folk on here when international football gets involved. How can you not enjoy that? And how can you deny that Messi doesn’t deserve it.

I'm sure that will be at the forefront of Messi's mind as he lifts the Jules Rimet Trophy.

He’s a long journey to collect that trophy as it was given to Brasil in 1970 after they had won it for the third time.
