Sorry the word should have been *shown more. His Press, change of pace, vision and passing is above both Travis & Morton…no arguments…As a result him & A Wharton are our best CMs.

Admittedly I don't get chance to go to many live games at Ewood, but the last game I watched against Sunderland he was abysmal. No effort, no press, slow passing, gave the ball away constantly and gave away a pen. Got sent off the next game so I'm not his biggest fan. To be honest I don't really rate any of our midfield options.

The only solution for me is a complete overhaul in the transfer market.

This year we're gathering all the rumours and speculation we can find into a single article on the front page that we'll keep up to date as the windows progresses ... there's stuff from journo's twitter, papers ... even here if we see anything good or that we missed!

You’ve got to be a parody, surely?

Not one to only use stats but per 90 minutes this season, Buckley creates 0.62 goal scoring opportunities. Morton creates 1.72 per 90. Nearly 3x as many as Buckley.

Buckley is a nothing player. Isn’t strong enough and can’t tackle well enough to play as a defensive midfielder. Can’t pass well enough or retain possession well enough to be a deep creative player. Can’t run with the ball and beat players to be a ‘number 8’

People need to take off the blue tinted spectacles. If we’d signed him from a lower half Championship side last summer people wouldn’t think he was good enough. Just because he came through the academy he gets extra chances. He’s nowhere close to a top 6 championship player.

Spot on. Crazy Buckley is STILL getting plaudits after a horror season and a poor overall season last season too. He has been awful this year. Any decent game is praises to the hilt and his horror shows are simply ignored for a few days then it's back to praising him. Total liability.

Morton is not a world beater yet but to compare the 2 is laughable. One is on the books and highly rated at Liverpool under one of the best managers in the world..the other is contributing nothing and is struggling to get into a championship team. He is only featuring due to lack of options. Needs a good kick up the arse.

It's a bit sad that to big up Buckley the approach is to tear Morton down. He's played alot better than Buckley this season. We need a new midfield and tbf one that is an upgrade on Buckley and Morton.

Are the 2 games the ones in which he conceded a stupid penalty when we had just taken the lead followed by a game in which his petulance cost us the game?

Highlighting games that he has been horrendous to try and praise is a new low 😂

Possibly, but so young and so inconsistent from AW point of view.  JDT doesn't seem to fancy either 🤷‍♂️ Bucko been in the background whilst our early season good form, Travis loses a bit of form and JB got a go...Hardly the basis for a promotion push after JBs last couple of contributions.

I genuinely think JDT looks at his current midfielders and can't seperate them on averageness.....

I think we need 2 experienced in and JG and JB out on loan or sold

Sparks knows

Morton over Buckley, but I don't think it's that cut and dry. Morton isn't much better technically but got years on his side. Flatters to deceive and even more lightweight than our other options in there. Seems to duck out of challenges and the opposition CMs run off him fairly easily. Tidy enough on the ball and can pick a decent long pass, but we need more in the championship. Probably best suited to a 3, not a 2.

Without looking in any great detail, based off experiences this season, I reckon we could find at least one, if not two midfielders in every single other team in the league that would currently get into our XI.

Think of the football Burnley play, and for all that flair and attacking talent, who are their CMs? Cork, Cullen and Brownhill. All love a tackle. Jack Cork has been their player of the year based on a lot of opinions I've heard and kicked both our CMs off the park in the derby.

I'd echo @Sparks Roverwe need two tacklers in there and the third spot is where you have your flair player.

Reading the LT article on Dack this morning and hadn’t realised his contract was up in the summer. I think there’s an option to extend it but it’ll be interesting to see if we do…

He seemed to think in November he would be leaving in January if the club gave the green light and had plenty of offers but that seems to have changed now.

There is an option to extend and personally I think we should, the club have invested alot in his recovery and rehab, hopefully he stays fit and features more and more this season and next.

Surely we should or even offer him a new 2 year deal?

Not a huge badge of honour considering the alternatives but by far our best attacker since the break. Seems to be as fit as he ever was.

Very fair and accurate assessment. Josh Cullen is quality. Cork and Brownhill are ideal championship midfielders, battlers but with quality too. Very envious of their options. Stating the obvious but you need a tough battling midfielder in the championship. We seem to be going way too lightweight and technical, you need a Barton, Whitehead, Cattermole, Leadbitter type.

Alan Browne and Whiteman at PNE are decent options. Fleck, Norwood at SU. Alex Mowatt. Howson and Hogg are too old now but that ilk. There is plenty about.

Harrison Reed still stings.

I would wait to the end of the season so judge the fitness and the impact he has had on the season. No reason to rush the decision since we have a club option of 12 months anyway

Here's 12 years ago today on SSN...

Scunthorpe and Watford have taken quite different paths since then!

Excellent. I'm not on the usual social media outlets so appreciate anywhere that can summarise for me!

Connor Wickham has left Forest Green Rovers and has interest from Championship and League One clubs.

9 goals in 20 games this season.

With him being a free agent and possibly on a lower wage, I wonder if he’s on Rovers radar?

With the the amount of injuries he’s had I would stay clear IMO.

He might be fit but he's incredibly slow now. I wonder what the offers were for him in November.
