RevidgeBlue Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Been busy the last couple of days, just logging in to see who we've signed. Obviously our new dynamic DOF will be eradicating the failures of previous regimes by getting our deals done early and not scratching around for leftovers on deadline day. What's that you say? "No-one?" 7 Quote

Season tickets are the number one factor and they obviously have Horwich and area on their doorstep where they now monopolise support. One of the biggest things for them now is the amount they draw from Chorley especially amongst the youth. The club recognised all the support on their doorstep coupled with their rebirth and piped into the feel good factor. All our lot do is increase prices there was a similar feel good factor after league 1 promotion but they did nothing. 7 Quote

Will be interesting to see what fee they get for Raya - only certain fact is it will dwarf what they paid us for him. Hope someone at Rovers was savvy enough to ensure we had a meaningful sell on clause! A sell on clause has been confirmed before, LT have mentioned it in articles. I think it was somewhere in the region of 20%. I dunno if that's on the profit or outright. Quote
davulsukur Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Bournemouth signing a winger/attacker for £27m. Might free up Dembele for a move/loan. Quote

Just to be clear, Brentford plan on selling him with 12 months left on his contract, giving them funds to sign a replacement, rather than letting him run his deal down and leave on a free?! What ??? That’s just plain Bonkers … 🙄 Quote

Obviously Hibs fans won’t be happy to lose him but I guess he wants to come down to England and test himself. “Blackburn would be a good club for him. Their captain got injured in the last game which is probably why their interest is a bit more now. “He’ll be a big miss when he eventually leaves the club. But it would be a big move and good move for him to go to Blackburn.” Why is Sol Bamba getting involved? What connection am I missing here? Is it just because he played for Hibs over a decade ago?? 1 Quote

Won't increase those values from behind their desk or the lethargic attempts of looking no further than a 2 mile radius. A point I made to SW, when they threw in that different genders is part of their new USP Rather than catchment area Edited January 18, 2023 by glen9mullan 1 Quote

There were plenty who thought it was a good deal at the time Simon. Safe to say they aren't in the same league as you or I in rating a player. 3 Quote

West Ham and Leeds facing losing out on Diaz to Villarreal - Sources (footballinsider247.com) Villareal in 'advanced talks' with Rovers for a reported fee of £8m. The 'model' would like an apology. 3 Quote

Can’t see is personally, just become a father, would he really uproot straight away to Spain with a new born? More likely to leave in the summer for free when things have settled down at home abit. 4 Quote

I'd be delighted with £8m if it's reinvested into the squad. 3 Quote

We can start to feel superior,or goodness even on a par with Brentford, when we have a string of successes of brought and sold. Look at their striker cycle - how many sold for big profits with a successful replacement. We've not replaced Armstrong, may not get anything for Ben and have Gally and Vale lined up as replacements. Hard to feel smug about things. Quote

Backroom DE. Posted January 18, 2023 Backroom Posted January 18, 2023 £8m for Diaz wouldn't really be a vindication of the model considering we'd be breaking even on him at best, and will have gained nothing beyond mid-table Championship finishes. £15m for Armstrong was a better example of where the so-called model actually worked, probably more through luck than conscious effort. 1 Quote

Andy Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 At £8m, we're probably breaking even on BBD (with wages / bonuses / etc) - as the promotion caveat has not been triggered, Forest will have received £4m-£5m from us (with an add-on from the sale). Still, better than nothing as it would be in the summer and you'd like to think that at least some of that will be reinvested. Though, this Venky's we're talking about... I hope it's true, the time is right for him and it's an amazing opportunity for him to try himself at a higher level. He's the type of player who will be better with better players around him. Surely, SURELY, a decent sell-on has to be part of any deal... Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted January 18, 2023 Posted January 18, 2023 Not ALL sweetness and light in Spain. They were in economic crisis and rioting over fuel prices at different points fairly recently. Quote
