I'm sure that's a signing that will be warmly welcomed on here 😁 This page would blow up & rightly so…I’m guessing JDT has been spotted down there….Why o why are we even venturing down this route - Red flags 🚩 Quote

He's a traditional number 9 who scores goals. He'd add some physical presence up front that everyone has been crying out for. Not all League 1 signings are Hirst, some are Dack. 2 Quote

TheRevAshton Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 It's a shame we're going to lose Diaz... our best player, our top bagger. He'll be tough to replace. We could go for Siriki Dembele maybe? Or uncover a gem from the Scandi' leagues? Could be exciting actually! Who could we get? Ronan f**king Curtis baby, RC11. Quote

The article is speculating JDT was watching Bishop not Curtis. As a fellow man of the cloth you should know that. Quote

Guest Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Jackson reporting that we are close to our first signing. Sounds like an attacker, but not Undav or Gelhardt. Anybody any clues? Shame about Brereton Diaz, but I felt it would always come to this. The writing was on the wall before Tomasson and Broughton came in. Quote

Sorry, no, there's too much of it now, and the horse has fairly bolted. We do let the transfer threads go off tangent a bit, understandable considering the level of transfer activity equals zero! But the people have spoken, since this is the most liked post for a good few pages. So with a week to go: Can we please keep the transfer thread on the topic of transfers. Take ex manager discussions to the relevant manager threads please. From here on out any off topic posts will be hidden, so please don't waste your time just for the content to disappear. 11 Quote

Rovers transfer budgets are agreed in the summer for the full year, so all there is left is what's not been spent in the summer. They've had to swallow their pride and send Hirst back because he was taking up a big chunk of wages. I bet they wish they could do it with Szmodics. So, yeah, there probably isn't much left. Although in fairness, we were one of the biggest net spenders in the division this summer. Compared to most clubs in the division who don't have parachute payments, managers at Rovers are well supported financially. Quote

We always used to hear that Venkys would provide extra funding if we were in a position midseason to launch a real promotion challenge. Until we were in that position, and nobody at the club has mentioned it since. 4 Quote

Szmodics is a good squad player In any promotion team you need players like that - ones you can trust to do a job He's got a couple of goals for us, won us points along the way, and comes on and closes out games very well With Dack back I am more than happy to see Szmodics as a replacement for that position / the CM role People moan at the money for him, and I do agree a better central midfielder is needed more, but that added depth will come at a costs At 27 we have a good 3 years out of him for ~£2m and he seems like a damn good lad and a good player at this level. I think he's a good signing, if not exactly what we need to bring us to that next level, but not every signing will be We are building on a team that was ravaged by mismanagement of the footballing side of things for years. Szmodics is a piece of a jigsaw, like any squad 4 Quote

P'boro were going to send him on loan to Oxford 6 months before he joined us cos he couldn't get in their L1 team. I bet they can't believe their luck. He's not a patch on Dack. Quote
