Just on Gelhardt. Rich Sharpe said he was never our first choice so I don’t think we really battled for him in all honesty.
 

If our first choice was Undav then that is just stupid awful business as there would always be a risk that he wouldn’t be released. 
 

Watch it now, “Bishop was always our number 1 target”…really hope GB has another target we’re unaware of.

We need a number 9, someone who can lead the line Gerhaldt will most likely be positioned right,left or central behind the centre forward.

If he goes to Sunderland he wont be leading the line Stewart will. 

Hope there is a target that isn't Bishop

Apropos of absolutely nothing and with no knowledge other than they’re at some kind of impasse with him, but… if Mowbray has guaranteed playing time to Gelhardt and Leeds (as is being suggested “online”), what happens with Ross Stewart? I read they’ve offered £10k/week to him, which is three times his wage currently. Even with our limited wage structure, we could beat that. They’d want a lot of money and both Bournemouth and Brentford are supposed to be looking at him. Remote hope of this being incredibly under the radar? Fanciful, but I do fancy it.

How old is Stewart ?

Could be a £7m project signing, if he's young enough.

I'm very dubious whether Undav will be up to it. He was at USG when they were promoted from the Belgian championship. To give that bit of context, they're currently 2nd in the Belgian Premier league and have Burgess who was at Portsmouth last year and Sykes who was at Accrington as part of their preferred back 4. Doesn't fill me with confidence to be honest.

As for Thomas, he might do a trick for us but if he does regain some form, we'll have lost him come season end.  Almost pointless. 

Like I said Mercer, we don't know what is going on behind the scenes and I think we will signings we won't link with. We don't if Gelhardt was even first choice but he isn't a number 9 which I think we need. I think we will still sign at least 2 more. 

On Thomas, I think if he does well here we will sign him permanent in the summer.

Will it be another window defined by players we couldn't sign rather than any we do? Porteous, Gelhardt and Undav.

Also, we were meant to be the push of a button away for the signings of Undav, Porteous and that keeper last week...

We’d better hope the lads earning 6 figures a year spent some time ensuring they had other options and not just all these fallen through deals (the Bodo keeper, hibs defender, Geldhart and Brighton striker).

Considering they don’t have to do much else outside of the window I’d hope so.
