Buy, develop, sell?

Or give away

How are we going to develop him if other players are in his way? And if he does get in ahead of them, how are we going to develop Wharton and/or Garrett?

I fall for it every window man, I'm so pissed off  in my head I was going over and over which mystery striker we was going to sign because we couldn't be letting markandy go out on loan without one coming in..  Vale and Gallagher FFS 😭😭

And although he was shit, Hirst too.

But I'd rather give Leonard a chance over him.

Get him brought in on a free and send in those crosses.

Danny Graham. Before that, Gestede.

(Not counting defenders of course)

Loan them out, it's a very successful model elsewhere and could well be our future

We are all discussing Vale and Gally as our only remaining front 2, but we have to accept that our former top striker BBD will hang around for a few weeks, and assuming O'Brien hits the ground running, there will be more ammunition for BBD to at least exhaustedly get on the end of, before he actually hits the beach.

If we play BBD up front, and Thomas and O'Brien, we will have a chance.

Is that blind optimism??

yes

I'm just confused really.

We're told this week the aim this season isn't promotion. But we've signed two short-term loans, one of which has a £10m clause for if we go up. If the aim isn't promotion why even bother doing that? Why wouldn't you just focus on developing what we do have? And if the aim is promotion why come out and tell everyone it isn't? To take pressure off? We saw how that worked under Mowbray, these lads still fell apart when it mattered, so no need to bother with that nonsense.

Yet, if the aim "secretly" is to try to get promoted, why would you sign Sorba and O'Brien and then not bother with a striker, lmao. Pointless. Just makes it seem like nobody has a clue what they're doing.

I can only assume the plan was indeed to get a striker in but GB failed. In which case that's two loan wages likely being wasted on achieving a mid table finish, whilst giving our own players less time to gain experience.

Hopefully I'm wrong on all of the above though.

Sounds spot on to me.

Operation “sign loads of midfielders”, still going.

Judging by what Sharpe had said all through the window, JDT wanted a striker who could 'run in behind'. Unless there's one on a free somewhere then it will affect the way he wants to play.

On the other hand they aren't 'thinking of promotion' so maybe it's Karma's way of telling them they should have been.

Rudy yes, if a bit wild with his direction., Danny ok, not great though.

Martin is also a very clever player, him and Dack would be excellent together, if he's not past it already,

I haven't seen much of him lately.

They've clearly tried to sign strikers and clearly failed. I think that's about the long and short of it.

Every transfer window ends up somewhere in between better than feared, and worse than I hoped for. If we sign O’Brien it’ll be better than I expected. If we haven’t signed a striker I won’t be surprised.

Absolutely shit window. Two short term loan deals. That give no continuity to next season. No striker.  So we're left with laurel and hardy up front. Cant stress how pissed off I am. Failure yet again to build on our play off position. Broughton has failed miserably this window. What's he being paid for?

It was over when that French lad pulled out yesterday. That and the Brighton lad sticking down South - we were always scrambling at that point.

Considering how long we've known we'll need striking reinforcements - a long time before this window opened - that's pretty sad to say the least.

Reading between the lines it seems Undav deal was agreed and he backed out, and Kone deal was agreed but his club backed out.

If true I think I can cut them some slack, but it is massively disappointing that for the second January in a row we've failed to get a striker when we're in a great position in the league.

Managed a few assists in that time at least.

Gallagher meanwhile... 🗿

Graham was good in the air, I'm confused you would question that. 'Great' maybe not, RSC and Rudy are in that category, both some of the best I've seen in the air, but you initially said 'really good', and I'd have to insist Graham falls into that category, for this level. 'Ok' is average, and he was definitely better than that.

That’s not the point, he has scored this season and without those goals we’d be in trouble. He will probably chip in with more.

The main concern is that we’ve got a recruitment team that can’t sign a goal scorer.

I won’t fancy our chances with Gallagher and Vale next season.

Oh well, its sounds like we have signed the best midfielder in the championship last year, absolutely delighted with that move when it come through, interested to see what Sorba brings. Breo stay for the campaign.

Hardly a disaster
