Popular Post Andy
7 hours ago, Iceman said: I just laugh at the mass hysteria around JDT. What has he been 5 or 6 months in charge, 3rd on the table, and still in with a chance of the playoffs. Mowbray had 5 years, without a single playoff appearance, and yet we had fans still living off a league 1 promotion with him. Cmon man, are we really wanting to get rid of JDT, and think the next bloke in will have us playing champagne football. Majority of this squad is still a Mowbray squad, and many are utter dross right now, some have fallen off badly ie Brereton. You really have to give JDT a few more transfer windows, to really see whether he can make whatever style he wants to play work. Team has been inconsistent sure, but blimey, some of you thinking that JDT is going to get things right after a few months in charge is just silly. This times a hundred. Maybe its overspilling frustration from last season, where we ultimately missed out on a top 6 place, having spent most of the season there. The football has been mostly dire, but we have been churning out results - enough results to see us comfortably 3rd, in January. I couldn't attend whilst Kean was here, I just couldn't trust myself not to run towards the dugout and nut the bald prick. We've had the 'going nowhere' years under the likes of Bowyer and the short term managers (Berg/Appleton/etc). But right now, we have a bright young manager and (seemingly) a proper recruitment process in place. The squad is mostly young and developing and we have an excellent chance for top 6 again this year. To me, talk of potting JDT and heading back into the managerial wastelands of Ainsworth and that ilk is absolute, bonafide madness. I honestly can't comprehend that way of thinking.

If I was in charge it would be an alternative/something different I would be buying. Feels like we only really have Dolan and Dack that offers something different. Maybe some pace or target man might be the way to go.

Someone who finishes more than they miss. Jordan Rhodes 2.0. The Sunderland one (Stewart) would be an ideal but I can’t see that for the life of me… so use the data and the scouting team to find the next best thing.

Darwen Rover 007
Ins: - LB as backup to pickering - RB to play as Brittain is injured most of the time - Midfielder that can drive forward with the ball and create space - Pacey Striker Outs: - Rankin Costello, yes had a few games but not good enough at this level. - Mola - Hirst / Vale, both not top half Championship players. - Markanday, send on loan if JDT doenst fancy him (which he clearly doesn't)

Mattyblue
In the wider fanbase obviously not, but this place oscillates wildly result to result. It will be the same daft posts from a dozen or so next time we lose a game.

SuperBrfc
Bit of info that I have seen shared by a couple of posters on another forum that is worth sharing here. One of the posters was a former member here and somebody who I always viewed as being a good source of information. As is usually the case, it appears to have come from 'sources' that each of them have, so feel free to take it as you wish. Anyway, the latest is: 1) Broughton has, apparently, interviewed three potential new signings in the UK during the week just gone. Two Scandinavians, one German. One of those three is an attacking midfielder. 2) A new midfielder was being shown around the club a few days ago and is set to sign. It's as good as done by the sounds of it. No idea who he is, which club he's from, his nationality etc. 3) Everton want BBD and will give us Ellis Simms in return. The rumour is they have bid £9m for BBD plus Simms but it has been turned down. I don't know if Simms is a permanent or a loan move in this equation. Again, the info has come from two posters on another site, so I don't know any more than what has been mentioned above. Everton have recalled Simms from his loan spell at Sunderland, so there might be something in the rumoured Rovers link. If the above info is correct, I am glad we are looking at the central midfield area. Our powderpuff midfield has been brushed aside on too many occasions already this season. It's literally men against boys most weeks and definitely needs bolstering with a couple of solid additions, in my view.

J*B
There’s no chance Everton give us 9M plus Simms… even Simms on loan… even 9M! That smells of bullshit to me. I guess we will see on point 2, if that’s true they should be signed, unveiled and training within 72 hours. On point 1 I think signing Scandinavian players is likely, I believe their season is over (and players are out of contract)?
Paul Mani
Rothwell pissed on his chips before he left. Common knowledge that he doesn’t believe that he has any developing to do…but also accepted in the training ground that he completely downed tools after his move broke down in Jan. Mowbray tried publicly to protect him but everyone knew….Prob the reason he hasn’t had a sniff yet this season either. I just can’t see a point where anyone would want him back.

roversfan99
I would take Rothwell back because put chinese whispers of his conduct or unswallowed pride aside, he would clearly improve our team. That being said, there is no chance of that happening. Silly season is upon us, knowing modern day Rovers I would be surprised if business was done soon. Hopefully Mola and Hirst can be back at their parents club with immediate effect for some room to manouevre. Ideally we can get a signing or 2 in this week to give them a run out in the Cup (doubtful) but at least for the Rotherham game plus one or two back from injury.
