However JDT is a very stubborn, one-dimensional manager and he is currently being found out by a lot of the other managers in the league. On the individual match day threat, that shocking performance is down to him. The bigger picture I agree is elsewhere. I doubt anyone believes with the squad we had available today man for man, we should be getting battered at Rotherham . I didn't think we'd get battered but I thought there was a good chance we'd get beat. Look at the state of that teamsheet. Look at the state of the subs bench. I don't expect us to win any games with Vale and Gallagher upfront. Garrett and Morton in the middle and JRC and Pickering as fullbacks. How the team has fallen.

Danny O.Brien
Its just painful to watch at times this season. We haven't even got the squad to make changes. So play badly and move on, start the next game. Where is the reaction to playing so badly? There isn't we just play again and see if we win. I don't know what style of football we are supposed to be playing? Keep it at the back do fuck all with it. Play it forward and our attackers lose it on the half way line and we're immediately under pressure. Have we even equalised this season? Never mind turned a game around. It's getting boring and I don't care if we're still in the top six. There is a way of losing a game and we are spinless. The number of times we have gone behind this season and completely capitulated. Is ridiculous. Against bad sides too. I don't care what anyone says we went on bad runs with mowbray. We never rolled over like we have a number of times this season. Since the burnley game we've been abysmal for the most part.

If not having Brereton leads to a 7-goal swing then god help us. He’s been sussed. Press us high and aggressive, get in front then sit deeper and keep pressing. Popular Post arbitro
I can lose graciously, I really can but what I can't accept is the other team wanting it more than my team. One of the most important aspects in professional sport is competing, not allowing your opponent any advantage by simply being aggressive in and out of possession. Not for the first time this season we were found wanting in the arm wrestle with opponents who, in truth are a team of journeymen. I looked at the half time stats and we didn't even commit a foul, not one. In fact aside from young Garratt I can't recall a challenge of note in the whole game. The inane passing was back with a bang as our 474 passes contained 297 in our own half. But never mind we had over 77% possession so the purists can defend a gutless, spineless, lily livered performance from our team by pointing to that. In every defeat this season we have deserved to lose as Tomasson just doesn't seem to have a plan when the opponents are putting us on the back foot by pressing high up the pitch. Still only another three summer transfer windows to come up with a solution as we grow weary of his one dimensional style of playing. My nephew sent me a text saying Tomasson was caught laughing in the technical area when we were two down. Was there some context to this? And to cap an awful day some of the morons who purport to follow Rovers were out in force embarrassing themselves and the club.

Embarrassing on and off the field today. Morons spending the game looking at opposition fans... And the fucking idiots stood in front of me who'd spent the morning drinking Dark Fruits were no better.

tomphil
I'm amazed we still retain that kind of away support given what it gets back for its time and money investment. Some teams who get relegated will have better away form than us. Edited January 14, 2023 by tomphil

Yeah but no one can tell me that when they saw Morton and Garrett as the heartbeat of the team it filled them with delight. That was my point. Morton would be fine if we weren't relying on his efforts so much. Same as Garrett would be fine to bring in for the last 15 to get experience. We shouldn't be starting him. I've never known a Rovers team to rely on teenagers so much.

Popular Post Miller11
Got in about an hour ago, watched the goals back and read a few hundred posts on here. Anyone who reckons Rotherham somehow fluked it is only kidding themselves. You don’t fluke a 4-0, and to suggest so is disrespectful to them. Their first two goals (the scorers were far and away the best two players on the pitch by the way) were excellent hits despite our crap defending - you have to have a shot to score. We were pathetic today. Garrett tried a tackle or two, but that was about it. Morton is a coward and a bottle job who would pull out of anything less than 80:20 in his favour, let alone a 50:50. Hyam is generally a good championship centre half, but there is a reason he’s uncapped for Scotland… the new Ryan Nelsen he isn’t. Gallagher was at his worst today and Vale will never carry a goal threat at this level. Then there is the issue of what we do with the ball. I wonder (dread to think) what percentage of that 77% possession was taken up by Hyam and Ayala. When we work the ball out wide it becomes a hot potato that has to be played backwards and inside immediately. Nobody can be arsed getting in the box, and when we do put the ball in there it’s a panicked last resort. Markanday and Dolan had to come in at half time, and none of the front three could have any complaints at being subbed off. Obviously JDT waited til we were 2 down, but we proceeded to do the exact same ineffective shite we’d persisted with for the previous hour. Both have the ability to terrorise teams by running at them, but whenever JDT speaks about either he’s always just happy they are taking less touches. Way to coach their effectiveness out of them. I think every defeat we’ve had this season has been a fair result. Not sure I can say the same for the wins. Our goal difference tells a story too. For those moaning about the lack of quality in our squad, we’ve played Rotherham today. With all due respect they shouldn’t be anything to fear on paper. The idea of the broader project I can get behind, but this style of play the manager is stubbornly married to, absolutely not.
