The sad thing is I certainly don't see things changing any time soon on the pitch unless we pull 3 or 4 cracking signings off in the next few weeks. And I guess we all knew what the odds were on that happening!! Well, why should things suddenly change under this ownership?? Quote

Guest Posted February 5, 2023 Posted February 5, 2023 Here's something that most of you will find minor that, for me, typifies the state of the operational side of the club. I'm in the middle of a digital cleanup of my online accounts and noticed I had an account for Rovers Select. This was an official app that turned out to be related to gambling on Rovers games. I uninstalled it quickly when I realised that none of that is my bag. I don't think the app exists anymore, yet their Twitter account is still up and running. It's all official, including a lovely banner with a player who is no longer at the club, and a latest Tweet from one and a half years ago. The link to the website is dead. On its own, I know it doesn't look like a major deal, but I really think it sets the lazy and uncaring tone for the operational side of the club - that they can't even be bothered putting closure on a digital venture that they decided to forget about. Does anybody in a position of responsibility at Rovers really care? Quote

Moderation Lead K-Hod Posted February 7, 2023 Moderation Lead Posted February 7, 2023 First time I’ve ever thought about not renewing my season ticket for next season. No ambition, no plan and no clue from those in charge. Well done to all involved, over 30 years of being a fan and you’ve managed to break me… 9 Quote

No ambition, no plan and no clue from those in charge. Well done to all involved, over 30 years of being a fan and you’ve managed to break me… Next season won't be the first time I haven't renewed my season ticket; but there were extenuating circumstances on each of the two previous occasions - (i) getting married and living about 20 miles from Ewood; (ii) 25 years later after Mrs. Roverboy had died, having to travel the 25 miles to/from Ewood by public transport which meant leaving home at 11.15 am & not getting home till 7.15 pm, because of bus timetables. I moved back to live in Blackburn last year and while being close to Ewood wasn't my main reason for moving - honest! - I was excited by the appointment of JDT as Head Coach and looked forward to an upswing in Rovers' fortunes. The way we lost our last game before the World Cup break, followed by the inept way the club conducted its business during the recent transfer window, has brought me back to earth. What's the point of following a struggling team whose owners frankly, my dears, "don't appear to give a damn"? At 77, there are more enjoyable things I could be doing than watching a team playing football with, metaphorically, one arm tied behind its back. Even if they're still, nominally, the same club whose colours I wore so proudly as a seven-year-old schoolboy among my tangerine-shirted schoolmates in our Blackpool Primary school. 10 Quote

Mattyblue Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 What’s the general vibe on the FF, K-Hod? Is it heads in the sand stuff re crowds etc? ‘We agree Steve, what else can you do?’ Or is there a robust exchange with him? Quote

Their latest manager, Gattuso, walking away after half a season due to a failure to sign players in the January transfer window. Hmm. How far away are we from that scenario? A Valencia based journalist has said the following in that article, let's see how it matches up: 1) "No manager in the world will be able to succeed while the current owner and current management model are in place. Absolutely nobody". Snap! 2) "They're doomed before even starting. Valencia isn't run as a proper club and the owner isn't invested in the success of the team". Snap! 3) "The squad is getting weaker every season, and taking everything into account...relegation is inevitable. It will happen eventually, even if not this season". Snap! 4) "Maintaining a good relationship with the club's supporters has never appeared to feature highly on the reclusive owner's list of priorities". Snap! 5) "The owner is sitting on his sofa playing with Valencia as a toy. Nobody understands why he bought the club. Fans are ashamed of their club because of him". Snap! 6) "Valencia will continue to sink as long as the owner stays, because he has abandoned the club to people who don't know about football. The only future is a change in ownership and to pray that the next one is better". Snap! Every single one of those quotes could have easily come from Rich Sharpe, talking about Rovers. There's a common theme that springs out of that article, and seems to apply to almost every club that finds itself in a mess: The owner having too close a relationship with a particular agent or agents. Maybe it's just a strange coincidence. Edited February 9, 2023 by SuperBrfc 12 Quote

Are you able to elaborate on those concerns? It was when Steve Waggott retorted to my comment about our season ticket sales, with ‘I bet they didn’t make as much as us thought, did they?’ I’m worried that those in the corridors of power don’t get the fan base at all and the lack of even considering lowering season ticket prices was odd. They mentioned that they’d ‘done a cheap ticket offer for the Birmingham cup game’ and there wasn’t much take up, so cheap tickets don’t always work and all this sort of thing. I highlighted that the 3rd round FA Cup is always poorly attended. I think my main worry is that they give up too easily and hide behind easy excuses of parachute payments and all that. Like ‘oh well, they get more money than us, so we might as well not bother competing with them. It’s the seemingly defeatist mindset that I just can’t get on board with tbh. 2 Quote
Penwortham Blue Posted February 9, 2023 Posted February 9, 2023 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64545162 Looks like the Valencia fans are losing their club as well, the victims of negligent and absent owners from a far away continent. Sound familiar 🙈 1 Quote
