Polky Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I will be making the trip down to Hertfordshire as my Wife's family live near the ground. Won’t be an easy game, but I predict a score draw (1-1). Quote

lraC Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 As JDT said in last nights post match interview, Watford have made 8 new signings in the window. They are above us in the league and with the new signings and healthy competition for places, they will blow us away. At lease a two goal margin and probably more and I see us failing to notch again. 2-0 or 3-0 for me this one. 3 Quote
TheRevAshton Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 If we play anything like last night, which we probably will, we'll get absolutely bummed into oblivion. For what it's worth, i'd start with something like this; Hopefully we can get a couple back from injury to improve on the above. In any case, i'd bench BBD and stick Leonard on the bench over Vale. Anyway, I imagine a comfortable 2-0 win for Watford here. 4 Quote
roversfan99 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Really difficult to put together a reasonable team at the moment, can't see a change in the back 4 and keeper although against good attackers I can see plenty of danger coming our way. Travis to keep his place, Dack to keep his, Dolan deserves a start then beyond that, struggling. No Vale involvement under any circumstances. Can only see a comfortable defeat. 2 Quote
MarkBRFC Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 These will absolutely destroy us. Watford 4 Rovers 0 1 Quote
booth Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 We'll have Gallagher or Vale dolloping about up front and Brereton daydreaming, all whilst the likes of Dack and Thomas bust a gut to make something happen. 4-0. 1 Quote
BankEnd Rover Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Their fans arn’t overly keen on their recent performances with Bilic under abit of pressure. Im sure we will fix that, in fact I’m confident of it. 4/3-1 Watford Quote
tomphil Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 (edited) We can defend quite well playing like last night so i actually fancy us to nick a point if he picks the right team. We are the draw specialists after all ........but don't look like scoring even a fluke. Watford 0 Rovers 0 Edited February 7, 2023 by tomphil 2 Quote
Ossydave Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Well i was going, after last night though I'm undecided. It's even less appealing with no ale in the away end so can't even slope off to the bar if its going pear shaped. When you play as poor as last night you'd like to think the manager is livid and makes everyone work their backside off to put things right. I've seen very little evidence of JDT being capable though. Pears Brittain Carter Wharton Pickering JRC Travis Thomas Szmodics Dolan Dack Quote

Pears Brittain Carter Wharton Pickering JRC Travis Thomas Szmodics Dolan Dack The complete lack of contrition on behalf of all concerned after the Dingles debacle told me all I need to know about the current set up at Rovers. No point playing Dack up front, he’s unsuited to that role and you’ll miss his late runs into the box. Edited February 7, 2023 by Tyrone Shoelaces 2 Quote
joey_big_nose Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Only comfort I can see is I fully expected both Watford, WBA and Norwich to all easily beat us earlier in the season, but we somehow beat them. So maybe things will surprise us. Its strange really as the playing staff seems slightly improved with Thomas joining but I think our confidence has gone out the window. 1 Quote
joey_big_nose Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 (edited) Maybe grasping at straws here but looked back at our home meeting with Watford and Hedges had a good game in the central striker role, albeit in a 343. Id be tempted to stick with the 4231 but play Hedges up top. Vale is pointless, Gallagher offers more of a physical capability but so many attacks break down because he can't control the ball, Dolan and Szmodics can't physically compete centrally, BBD is bang out of form.... Its not ideal but willies we have etc... Kaminki JRC. Carter. Wharton. Pickering Travis. Buckley Thomas Dack. Dolan Hedges Hedges is a smart player with a decent left foot and ability to retain the ball on the half turn.... Can sort of see it working if his instructions are to stay central and get into the box. Edited February 8, 2023 by joey_big_nose 1 Quote
Oldgregg86 Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 New ground for me and not expecting anything but a long drive home. Hope Dolan gets a game. At least if he’s on song he can be entertaining. No jack vale for me and Leanord to get his chance on the bench. After that I don’t think it really matters as apathy has well and truly set in with only the Leicester game with any meaning until august Prove me wrong Rovers COYB 😵💫 3 Quote
Guest Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 On paper it is a straight home banker. The one thing that keeps me interested is JDT seems to have a little knack of finding something extra from his teams when you least expect it (though, sadly, not when you actually need it). That said, the players looked so jaded and lacking in mojo on Monday evening, that it would take an absolute miracle to pull anything out of this game. Methinks another large dent in egos, confidence, morale and goal difference is a coming. Behold our weak as piss capitulation as we slide inexorably down the table towards our predicted berth of 12th... JDT to walk at the end of the season, citing irreconcilable differences between him, Voldermort and the over-paid / under worked Haggis Chops. Watford (in 1st gear) 3 - Rovers (clearly in reverse) 0 Boooooh! Quote
bigbrandjohn Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Last time I was at Watford we won 2-1. I think Tony Field and Barry Endean scored. Here’s hoping for a repeat. 1 Quote
Nuttall is lost Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Another draw. We had never drawn a game. Its odds on we will draw the next 6 fixtures in a row. Quote
AllRoverAsia Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 There is no way we will stop Watford from scoring. We might score 1. The best we can hope for is a 1-1 I think that the inclusion of Thomas wide right has boosted Travis and helped him play a more expansive game. Someone worthwhile to pass to. We will scratch around until the end of the season trying permutations to try and find a way to score with our recognised strikers not really fit for purpose. I am still struggling with our pathetic window and failure to address our obvious main weakness. GB failed dismally and this will impact our season much more than missing out on a midfielder that we, imho, probably didn't want come the 11th hour. I would be ecstatic not to see Morton ever again in a Rovers shirt. Give ours the midfield. 2 Quote
booth Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 For u21s, Leonard came off the bench and scored two, and almost a hat trick. Can’t be any worse than Vale. 5 Quote

Andy Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Should be a home banker. But we’ve seen many times this season that we’ve pulled a performance or result out of nowhere and I’m hoping for the same again on Saturday. I’ll go Watford 1 v 2 Rovers. Hoping to see Leonard get a chance, a packed midfield and some pace on the break (eg Dolan). Quote
robbo_rovers Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 My 6 year old's first away game and my first away game for a good few years. Was impressed by the ticket prices and it looks like a nice ground to visit. Quite an easy journey on the train from Oxenholme too. Not holding out much hope for a result, but they've drawn 2 and lost of 1 from their last 3 games, so there's no reason (in theory) why we can't get a result. Would be happy with another draw but can easily see another limp away performance and a 2/3-0 defeat. Here's hoping I'm wrong. 1 Quote
