I'd be interested to see how our attendance figures compare with previous years, factoring in our attendance against what the average round the country is (for teams in the same division).

I reckon that these could be our lowest figures ever.

Then press England in list.

* 1986 was a bad year around.

It is also possible to get any English clubs, and many other leagues, historical attendances from this site

Looks like some spreadsheet work there. When I get time I might look into it.

Attendance averages are at all time highs in English football and the Championship is the 5th best supported division in Europe, behind the Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga and Serie A.

We can but dream and hope Swag gets what's due

Interesting site for attendance buffs, the graph for the Lancashire clubs perfectly illustrates the effect of success has on attendances. The attendances in the fifties/early sixties were massive for all the clubs and all had a lean period in the eighties. The cost of season tickets is also highlighted with a big spike around 2010 when we put the prices down to £199.

Average attendance for all the Lancashire founder member since the league started in 1888 shows how close the crowds have been with Preston being the worst as they have spent considerably less time in the top flight.

Average attendance                       Aggregate attendance

Bolton  17,072                                 Bolton      42,406,214

Blackburn 16,040                            Blackburn 39,587,877

Burnley 14,421                                Burney     36,196,423

Preston 13,367                                Preston    34,019,951

BTW all founder member and early league members are at a disadvantage for average attendance as crowds were only around 5 to 10,000 for quite a while after the league started.

Season Ticket Estimate

Latest: 8,628 (+22)

Notes:

  • The estimate is based upon the total number of saleable seats to home supporters (18,210), minus the amount of unavailable (sold) seats.
  • (+xx) represents the difference in season ticket sales from the previous estimate (usually 24 hours).
  • 159 seats in block W01 are marked as unavailable (sold), but are not saleable due to being cordoned-off. These are therefore excluded from the season ticket estimate.
  • 376 seats for supporters requiring ground-level font-row access are marked as unavailable (sold), but appear to be block-reserved rather than fully sold. These are therefore excluded from the season ticket estimate.
  • A seat is marked as unavailable for up to 28 minutes when added to the basket. It is not possible to exclude these from the estimate.

All aboard! I noticed on the seat map the Blackburn end looks a lot more sparse than normal... what's the % in there Gooz?

It’s interesting, Believe Gooze has seen that the Jack Walker is considerably busier than last season, Blackburn End quieter.

Almost like some complimentary tickets may have been given away in there once they knew we were keeping count... 🤨

Could it be quite a few BBE regulars are feeling the cost of living pinch a bit more now and have had to give up STs ?

Whereas the JW might be more attractive to newbies and those returning to the fold after not spending on STs for a while. Many sitting in there back end of last season on cheap ticket deals and one off visits might be tempted.

Then Blackburn Enders must be getting older and relocating to th'owd persons area. It's a pity BHS closed, they could have done a roaring trade in blankets. 😂😂

So about 75% full already just with ST holders, so with 6 weeks to go and then match day tickets on top it is still a very busy stand by modern day standards.

Not really when the whole top tier will be 0%!
